I William A. Layton of McLean County and State of Kentucky wishing to make disposition of my property do make and publish this my last Will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills made by me.
1st I give and bequeath to my son Joseph P. Layton (70) seventy acres of land on the North end of my land upon which I now reside to cut off by a line running parallel with the North line of said tract.
2d I give and bequeath to my son John C. Layton (76) seventy six acres of land off of the South end of my said tract of land to be cut off by a line running parallel with the South line of said tract.
3d I give and bequeath to my wife Annie B. Layton the residue of my land during her life for the benefit of herself and my granddaughter Ollie Porter, but to be controlled by my sons Charles W. Layton and John C. Layton who are to support out of the proceeds of said land my wife and granddaughter Ollie Porter.
4th I give and bequeath to my son Charles W. Layton at the death of his mother (40) forty acres of land adjoining Joseph P. Layton running across the entire tract from West to East said Charles W. Layton is requested to cancel a note of sixty-seven dollars which he holds against me.
5th In the event that my granddaughter Ollie Porter is living at the death of her grandmother she is to have (25) twenty-five acres adjoining Charles W. Layton running parallel with his from West to East in the case she the said Ollie Porter dies without bodily heirs, said twenty-five acres are to go to John C. Layton, and the residue at the death of my wife Annie B. Layton I give to my son.
6th I give and bequeath to my wife Annie B. all of my personal property to control and do as she wishes to do.
7th To my granddaughter Duky Hansford, Mable Hansford, Myrtle Hansford, Ann Harman and Mary Harman I exclude from any part of my estate.
8th I will and bequeath that all my indebtedness at my death be paid by my two sons Joseph P. and John C. Layton equally and in case either of them fail or refuse to pay his part of said indebtedness the land herein before bequeathed to either such one shall be subjected to his part of said indebtedness.
9th I am indebted to George Harman in the sum of Fifty dollars which I desire paid as provided for the payment of my other debts.
10th I hereby appoint Charles W. Layton and John C. Layton my executors of this my last will and testament without bond.

At a count court held for McLean County at the Courthouse in Calhoun, Ky on the 18th day of Jany 1897, the foregoing instrument of writing purporting to be the last will will and testament of W. A. Layton deceased, late of this county was produced in court and proven by the oaths of John P. Johnson and W. A. Johnson subscribing witnesses thereto whereupon, the same was established by the court to be the last will and testament of said testation and ordered to be recorded and the same is recorded in my office as clerk of said court.
