TOUR SPECIAL

WESTLIFE OFFICIAL MAGAZINE 4/2001

What were your tour rehearsals like?
Nicky: We did ten days in Dublin, we all drove in our own cars and met up to work.
Mark: They were long and hard days, sometimes! But the end result is a good show. Weve managed to make people think we can dance, whether we can or not!

Who helped you make the show as good as it is now?
Nicky: Kim Gavin who is our production manager, came up with the set idea. Theres our musical director, who deals with the music, our choreographers Paula and Priscilla
Shane: well be here all day. Every single person who is involved is important. Its a team effort, completely.

You also had pre-tour rehearsals in Bray. What did you do there?
Kian: Very little actually!
Bryan: The technical rehearsals took up those days so we just hung around and worried instead.

You had problems with the stage set during rehearsals
Shane: Yeah, we have moving towers which didnt want to work.
Kian: I was standing on one when it stuck. Someone had to come on stage and push it around. It was jerking all over the place and I had no idea what was going on!

Who took to the dancing most quickly?
Kian: I think we all took to it pretty well. Once youve got the basic steps youre looking in the mirror trying to make it look as cool as possible.

Theres a filmed portion at the beginning of the show. What was it like to film that?
Bryan: That was great fun! We had a brilliant day, then.
Kian: The girl dancers had to wear catsuits with just enough space cut out for their eyes. And we slagged them all day. Theyre great girls, but dont be thinking any of us are about to run off and get married to one of them!
