Currently I am writing a book on leopard geckos and I am wanting to include a small chapter on experiences(good or bad) that other people have had. So please feel welcome to share any experiences you have recently had. If anyone has had a leopard gecko die please share your experience with me. |

Just lately I had my first leopard gecko die. He had been sick for a couple of months so I took him to the vet and she said she had seen a few leopard geckos with this problem but never had the chance to do an autopsy. So when he died I called her and explained what had happened and she said she would do a free autopsy. When she called me with the results she said that his heart and lungs were in perfect condition but his liver and testicles were both smaller than normal. She believed that my gecko had had a "chronic wasting away disease." The vet believed that he had had this since birth and it had just taken a very long time to take effect. I had also had problems with him breeding. My females were laying tons of eggs but none of them were fertile. The vet thought that this had something to do with his small testicles. |
