GEOLOGICAL AGES OF EA

EVENDIM

End of glacial climate and rapid raise in sea level. Submersion of Forlindon Plate and the Island of Andor. Continued westward migration of the Mordor plate results in formation of the Nandalf Basin and tectonism. Uplift of the Ephel Duath and Ered Lithui mountains is associated with volcanism and frequent Plinian eruptions.

ANDOR

Collision of the Forlindon and Harad plates with proto-Endor, and uplift of the Blue and White Mountains. Uplift of the Eriador Anticline and formation of the Branduin River and the Marshes of the Upper Gwathló. Formation of extensive continental ice sheets in Forodwaith and eustatic lowering of sea level. Continued uplift of White, Blue, and Misty Mountains, and their glacial erosion.

HELCAR

Collision of the Eriador, Rhovanion, and Mordor Plates, forming proto-Endor. Uplift of the Misty Mountains. Formation of the proto- Gwathló and Anduin Rivers. Initial stage of glaciation.

THANGORODRIM

First phase of mountain building centered on the far north, extensive flood basalts in Rhovanion, Mordor, and Hardor terrains. Collision of Forodwaith and Eriador Plates, uplift of Thangorodrim Mountains.

VARDA

Initial formation of Ea, formation of the oceans and the continents, the mountains and the rivers.
