NEWS ARTICLES & OPINION PIECES
- Washington Post: Senate Backs
Far-Reaching Nuclear Trade Deal With India, by Glenn Kessler (2 October 2008).
Second example of Bush aiding a country to violate non-proliferation treaty
the two countries - Israel and India have refused to sign the treaty). And,
in addition, the US had to ok this in violation of numbers of US efforts to
control nuclear supplies and proliferation.
- Chicago
Tribune: New view on Mideast needed, by Yousef
Munayyer (1 August 2008).
This article describes how the US and Israel remain the
hated countries in the Middle East, while Iran is hated
much less, and the Palestinian cause is of highest priority.
This requires Obama and/or McCain to radically re-think
their views of the Middle East from how it has been, especially
under Bush which has included very visible hypocrisy concerning
nuclear weapons (Israel vs. Iran) and negotiation with enemies
(forcing Palestine to negotiate with Israel as Israel refuses
to halt settlement expansion and other illegal and inhumane
measures). The author is an official with the ADC.
- Los
Angeles Times: The fallacy of Islamic 'national suicide',
by (9 June 2008).
In the course of debunking the fear-mongering term, "national
suicide" to paint numbers of Arab entities as wanting wars
they cannot win or survive, George Bisharat exposes numbers
of Zionist and neo-con myths and reminds the world of Israel's
nuclear arsenal. This includes debunking the myth that Arafat
started the Second Intifada when he rejected the Camp David
negotiations, when he actually continued them at Taba, and
the Intifada actually started in response to Sharon's provocative
visit to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound.
- New
York Times: Israel’s Nuclear Arsenal Vexed Nixon,
by David Stout (29 November 2007).
This article describes President Nixon and his Secretary
of State Henry Kissinger's concerns about Israel's nuclear
program days before meeting Israel's new PM, Golda Meir.
It describes how our President decided to accept the program
out of fear of political pressure from American Jews, and
finally ended up making an agreement with Israel to allow
the program as long as all parties kept it secret. This
information is relevant in light of the present controversy
over Iran having a nuclear program.
- New
York Times: In a Slip, Israel’s Leader Seems to Confirm
Its Nuclear Arsenal, by Greg Myre (12 December 2006).
This article describes Israel's policy of not discussing
its nuclear arsenal as a way to operate a deterent to attack
from Israel's enemies without bringing sanctions and penalties
down on its head because it refuses to allow IAEA inspections
and supervision of its arsenal, which is in violation of
numbers of UN resolutions.
