DEVOTION TO THE SORROWFUL
FACE OF JESUS

In these troubled days and in view of recent world events, even those outside of the true Church are conscious that these are Apocalyptic Times.  We Palmarian  Catholics, being enlightened and informed by the messages and warnings from heaven, realize that the predictions made in the many Places of Apparitions are starting to begin there accomplishment.

It is interesting to observe heaven’s time scale of events.  In a little known place of Apparitions in 1971, precisely in Alto de Umbe, the seer Felisa put a question to the Blessed Virgin to the effect, “When will it all happen?,” to which she received the reply from Our Lady that she was talking about the year 2000 and onwards.

From this  we can see how heaven prepared mankind before the arrival of Apocalyptic events, at a time when it was still possible to mitigate, postpone and even cancel the Great Chastisements, before they became an imperative necessity to the eyes of the Justice of the Celestial Father.

It is worth remembering how heaven saw the immediate future back in 1970 and the remedy for humanity’s ills.  It was through devotion to the Holy Face of Our Lord Jesus Christ, a devotion reserved for the 20^th century, in which was to be found an answer to mankind’s departure from the path to God, and his obstinate delivery to a life of sins and the vices.

A long time before the Apparitions of El Palmar deTroya, the first Pope elect of the 20th century, St Pius X, had already propagated the devotion to the Holy Face, extending it to the Universal Church.  He appeared in an apparition in El Palmar in 1970, on the day of his canonical feast, the 3rd of September, which coincided precisely with the first Thursday of the Month, the day heaven had dedicated for Reparation to the Holy Face.  He gave this important message:

“My children, if you had followed my instructions to extend the devotion to the Holy Face throughout the world, you should have avoided two World Wars.  I gave the necessary instructions, that in all Churches, Convents and Houses of Christian families the Holy Face should preside.  It was not esteemed or extended as I had indicated, and so the Eternal Father remained unappeased by humanity and permitted the Two World Wars.

Newly, heaven is asking that you extend the image of the Holy Face, that it be adored, that it preside in the Churches, Convents and in the Houses of the faithful. This extension, if done, will avoid the 3^rd World War, which will be terrifying and dreadful.  It will placate the anger of the Celestial Father, who will contemplate in the Disfigured Face of his Divine Son all humanity and will have compassion.  My son, tell the Ecclesiastical Authorities not to put obstacles to the extension of the devotion to the Holy Face.  I, being Vicar of Christ on earth, gave instructions to extend it!  May they second my instructions!  For when a Pope extends a Devotion, it is for a reason!  Don’t you believe that the Holy Spirit inspires him?  You ought to know that when a Pope gives such an order, it is because he has meditated, asked assistance and knows what is best for souls.”

Pope St. Pius X finished his message with the following words:  “Procure that your letters carry the image of the Saviour of Humanity; this is also a way to extend the Devotion.  Those that come to the Sacred Place to pray wear exteriorly the image of the Sacred Face of Jesus.”  In the historical context, the devotion to the Holy Face is analogous with the devotion to the Sacred Heart that was asked for by Jesus in the 18^th century as the remedy to forestall and prevent the evils of the French Revolution, the sad consequence of which was the eventual de-Christianisation of Europe.  Had the request of Jesus been complied with, perhaps France would have remained Catholic and history would be different today.

In El Palmar de Troya from the year 1968 and onward, the devotion that heaven favoured to remedy the evils of the day was ceaselessly disseminated, with its special attribute being devotion to the Sorrowful Face of Jesus in his Passion, perhaps telling us thereby how the 20th century figured notably and perhaps predominantly in the mind and thoughts of the Saviour during his Passion.

Not far from El Palmar and Archidona stands the Cathedral of Jaen in Andalucia. This region of Spain has been singularly blessed with graces that derive from the devotion to the Holy Face, and not surprisingly, as Jaen received the immense grace of possessing the Veil of Veronica.  It was in the Cathedral of Jaen on the 21st of December 1969 where the Blessed Virgin Mary spoke to Clemente about the Shroud of Veronica, which is contained within the Cathedral:

“I am going to reveal something that before was unknown. This shroud that you have contemplated is the Face of my Son on the 3rd Shroud copy.  To arrive at the 3rd Shroud, the impressed figure is greatly diminished.  If you compare it with the Shroud of Turin, you will notice the difference in that the Face is larger.  It was taken in the street when Jesus was still alive and the other was taken when he was dead.  The Face is larger because it is swollen.”

  Palmarians should now be able to appreciate, if they did not before, the importance of this devotion in the history of our time.

Nearby Archidona stands the historic Roman town of Antequera, where at the entrance to the town presides a public Shrine in honour of the Sorrowful Face of Our Lord Jesus Christ.  Predilection for the Holy Face and indeed the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ is a feature of Andulucia, as witnessed by the grandiose Holy Week Processions, which are not just confined to Seville but are a feature of all the towns in this region.
