Chapter XIV: DANIEL, PROPHET AND SAINT.  SANCTIFICATION AND PROPHECIES.

            1.  The last of the Major Prophets is Daniel, who carried out the whole of his sacred mission during the Babylonian captivity.  He was a shining light of holiness, wisdom and upright judgement both at the imperial court as amongst his own Jewish People in exile.  His good name won for him in old age the special esteem of King Cyrus who, moved by the spirit of God, decreed at Daniel's request the rebuilding of the Temple of Jerusalem as well as the return of the exiled Jews, whom the King fa-voured with exceptional privileg-es,  returning to them the vessels and other sacred utensils which Nabuchodonosor had robbed from the Temple in Jerusalem when he took the Jews captive.

            2.  After a most thorough study of the Prophecy of Daniel, we have reached the firm conclusion that it was written entirely by the Holy Prophet.  Nevertheless, the work of editing the text was carried out after his death with little attention to chronological order; and as a result the Book of Daniel is a collection of texts in which the periods of time appear out of context,  without the proper correspondence between some of the episodes or visions and the dates furnished for them.

            3.  God prepared and enriched Daniel's soul while he was still a child with the indwelling of the Holy Ghost, as well as with infused graces and the gift of prophecy; and clothed him too with very great pru-dence.  We affirm that Daniel's sanctification is revealed in chapter XIII, verse 45 of his Prophecy: "... the Lord raised up the Holy Spirit of a young boy, whose name was Daniel"; proof that the prophet then possessed Sanctifying Grace.  The gift of prophecy is mentioned in Chapter I, 17: "... God gave ... to Daniel the understanding of all visions and dreams".  The sanctification and anointing of the pious youth as prophet was by means of the Triple Benediction, touched to his lips by the Most Divine Soul of Christ, according to Chapter X verse 16 of Daniel; we affirm that this event appears incorrectly placed in his old age, and connected with a different vision of a later period; and for as much we declare that it belongs to the Prophet's first vision when he was sanctified.  While the above mentioned verse 16 refers to the actual moment of Daniel's sancti-fication and annointing as prophet, verse 18 describes another si-milar happening on the heels of the former; and which we interpret and affirm to have been a moral and physical comforting as mark of God's special tenderness and care for the Holy Prophet.

            4.  An exceptional prophecy of Daniel is that of the  abolition of the Perpetual Sacrifice,- the Sacrifice of the Mass,-perfectly fulfilled when the heretical and lamentable `Novus Ordo' was imposed as binding,  - a mass which was produced by Vatican masonry; and this happened on the 30th of  November of the year 1969, although it had been promulgated beforehand.  Here is the scripture text: "And it was magnified even unto the fortress of heaven: and it threw down of the fortress, and of the stars, and trod upon them.  And it was magnified even to the Prince of the fortress: and it took away from him the continual sacrifice, and cast down the place of his sanctification.  And strength was given him against the continual sacrifice,  because of sins: and truth shall be cast down on the ground, and he shall do and shall prosp-er" (VIII, 10-12).  These verses clearly evidence the gradual infiltration of masonry into the Roman Curia with the intention of destroying the Church.

            5.  Masonry, synagogue of Satan, set to work with the sub-tlety and cunning which characterize it.  With the affiliation of many cardinals and bishops into its ranks, Masonry managed to scale and cap-ture the key posts in the Vatican offices as well as in the dioceses of the world, weakening and nullifying the out-standing personality of the Pontiff and Saint Paul VI, who became reduced to the condition of the most abject slave.  Once masonry had gained its principal objectives in the strategic points of the Church, it continued its work of des-truction more intensely than before, now in an official way by means of dispositions and decrees, forging the Pope's signature and misappro-priating his seal; and often compelling him to sign by means of drugs and threats.

            6.  In this way masonry succeeded in producing and promul-gating, under papal signature and seal, the satanic `Novus Ordo' of Mass; and so the Perpetual Sacrifice became officially abolished.  How exact and detailed is the Holy Prophet Daniel as he reveals the plot!  He speaks of the fortress over-whelmed,- the Roman Church; of the fallen stars,- who are the apostate cardinals and bishops; of the weakened Prince of the fortress,- Pope Paul VI; and of the "place of his sanc-tification", namely all the churches profaned by sacrilegious wor-ship.  Here we see the great apostasy of the Roman Church, which verse 13 also speaks of: "And I heard one of the saints speaking: and one saint said to another: I know not to whom that was speaking: How long shall be the vision, concerning the continual sacrifice, and the sign of the desolation that is made: and the sanctuary, and the fortress be trodden under foot?".

            7.  In v. 14, the Holy Prophet Daniel predicts almost to the day the glorious moment when the official re-establishment of the Perpetual Sacrifice took place in practice,- a re- establishment which Pope Gregory XVII would later proclaim by document; this re-establishment-in-practice took place on the Sacred Mount of El Palmar de Troya,- true Church Militant - in the early morning of the 1st January 1976, with the priestly ordination of the present Pope Gregory XVII and of future Cardinals of his Curia.  Apostolic Succession was assured on the 11th January 1976 with the Episcopal Consecra-tion of the future Gregory XVII, as well as of various future Cardinals.  Now we examine and explain the  significance of this verse 14: "And he said to him: Unto evening and morning two thousand three hundred days: and the sanctuary shall be cleansed".  Com-paring the number of days prophesied by Daniel with the lapse of time between the suppression of the Perpetual Sacrifice and its re-establish-ment, we arrive at the following figures: dividing the 2, 300 days of Daniel by the 365 days of the year, our quotient is 6 years, 3 months and 20 days.  On the other hand, calculating the lapse of time from the 30th November 1969 until the 1st and 11th of January 1976, we obtain the figure of 6 years,  1 month and 11 days; for God shortened those days out of love for His Church; as He did with the Resurrection of Christ, who said: "For as Jonas was in the whale's belly three days and three nights: so shall the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights" (Mat. XII, 40); a prophecy which was not fulfilled according to the letter, for He did not remain three whole days and nights in the tomb: Christ was placed in the tomb late on Friday, and rose from the dead in the early hours of Sunday morning; here too God shortened the days out of love for His Church.

            8.  The Holy Prophet Daniel was graced with an out-standing prophetic vision of Jesus Christ, Whom he names `Son of Man', a title which Christ took and used for Himself on many occasions.  Here is a text of sacred scripture which clearly shows our doctrine, taken from the account of an apocalyptic vision: "I beheld therefore in the vision of the night, and lo, one like the Son of Man came with the clouds of hea-ven, and He came even to the ancient of days: and they presented Him before Him" (VII, 13) - clear proof of the Divinity and Humanity of Christ.

            9.  Now we refer to Nabuchodonosor's dream as told in the Book of Daniel, of great Messianic importance.  The sacred text tells how Nabuchodono-sor King of Babylonia saw in his dream a great statue, very tall: the head was of very fine gold, the breast and arms of silver, the belly and thighs of copper,  the legs of iron and  the feet part iron, part clay.  The sacred text ends the dream thus: "... till a rock was cut out of a mount without hands: and it struck the statue upon the feet thereof, that were partly of iron and partly of clay, and broke them in pieces.   Then was the iron, the clay, the copper, the sil-ver, and the gold broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of a summer's threshing-floor: and they were carried away by the wind: and there was no place found for them: but the stone that struck the statue became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth" (II, 34, 35).  Daniel interprets the dream saying that the statue represents certain kingdoms, worldly and therefore perish-able; which God would overthrow with the establishment of a king-dom which would never be destroyed, which would break and put an end to all worldly kingdoms, and would last forever.  This Holy Council interprets, and completes and confirms the true meaning of verses 34 and 35: the Virgin Mary is represented by the Mount from which a rock - Christ - is loosed without the intervention of a man; and Christ destroys all the kingdoms of this world with the establishment of His  One, True and Eternal Kingdom.  This Kingdom of Jesus Christ is the Church which He founded, whose teachings have spread far and wide so as to fill the whole earth; and she will reach her zenith after the Second Coming of Christ in glory, with the establishment of the Messianic Kingdom, total and absolute reign of Jesus Christ.

            10.  The Holy Prophet Daniel is outstanding when he speaks of the Messias, particularly as, five centuries in advance, he fore-tells the very moment of the Coming of Christ in the following words: "Seventy weeks are shortened upon thy people, and upon thy holy city, that transgression may be finished, and sin may have an end, and ini-quity may be abolished; and everlast-ing justice may be brought; and vision and prophecy may be fulfilled, and the Saint of saints may be anointed.  Know thou therefore, and take notice: that from the going forth of the word, to build up Jerusalem again, unto Christ the Prince, there shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks: and the street shall be built again, and the walls in straitness of times.  And after sixty - two weeks Christ shall be slain: and the people that shall deny him shall not be his.  And a people with their leader that shall come, shall destroy the city and the sanctuary: and the end thereof shall be waste; and after the end of the war the appointed desola-tion.  And he shall con-firm the covenant with many, in one week: and in the half of the week the victim and the sacrifice shall fail: and there shall be in the tem-ple the abomination of desola-tion: and the desolation shall continue even to the consummation, and to the end" (IX, 24-27).  This prophecy was fulfilled to the letter, and is the clearest proof in the Old Testament with respect to the exact time of the coming of the Messias.

            11.  Now we briefly set out the results of our calcula-tions proving the fulfillment of this prophecy: in the year 4666 of the Crea-tion of the world,  Daniel was given the prophecy of the seventy weeks of years that were to pass up until the death of Christ as we read in these verses.  According to the same verses, these seventy weeks of years are to be counted from the rebuilding of the City of Jerusalem, which took place 81 years after the Prophet's vision, 52 days after the ar-rival in Jerusalem of Nehemi-as with the edict of Artaxerxes authorizing the rebuilding referr-ed to, an edict issued in the year 4747 of the Creation, or 452 before Christ.

            12.  Verse 25 speaks of 69 weeks of years beginning from the rebuild-ing of the city, which, according to our cal-culation are 68 weeks of years plus 6 years; and this fulfills the prophecy, for Christ was thus baptized within the sixty-ninth week.

            13.  Verse 26 presents us with a mysterious apparent contra-diction with respect to the previous verses, which we resolve in the light of our interpretation.  It speaks of 62 weeks of years after which will occur the Death of Christ; we  explain the mystery as follows: the 62 weeks have to be counted from the year 4747 of the Creation when the edict of Artaxerxes was issued.   From this year until 5180 of Creation, year of the Immaculate Concep-tion of Mary, we have 62 weeks of years; now we must intro-duce the 7 weeks of years from the Conception of the Virgin Mary up until the Baptism of Christ, in the year 5229.  And thus the mystery is once and for all resolved.

            14.  Verse 27 is concerned with the last week needed to com-plete the 70,  but only considers the half week, a period of three years and various months.  Within this period is the public life of Christ, the institution of Holy Mass,  the end of levitical sacrifices, the death of Christ and the apostasy of the Jews, all of which took place in the seventieth week.

Synopsis of Data Showing How Daniel's Prophecy was exactly fulfilled.

From the Edict of Artaxerxes I in the year 4747 of the Creation of the World, 452 before Christ, ordaining the reconstruction of the walls of Jerusalem:

            a) Up until the Immaculate Conception of Mary, in the year 5180 of Creation, 433 years have passed; that is, 61 weeks of years plus 6 years.  The Immaculate Conception of Mary therefore took place in the 62nd week.

            b) Up until the Birth of Christ, in the year 5199 of Creation, 452 years have passed; that is, 64 weeks of years plus three and a half years.  The Birth of Christ therefore took place in the 65th week, corresponding to the Martyrology of the Church.

            c) Up until the Baptism of Christ, in the year 5229 of Creation, 482 years have passed; that is, 68 weeks of years plus 6 years.  Therefore the Baptism of Christ took place in the 69th week.

            d) Up until the Death of Christ, in the year 5233 of Creation, 486 years have passed; that is, 69 weeks of years plus three years.  Therefore the Death of Christ took place in the middle of the 70th week.  The destruction of Jerusalem took place 37 years after the death of Christ.
