Myriad
Be careful what you wish for
Or so the saying goes
The words you must choose
With caution and care
The things you think you desire now
May not be what you wanted after all
Some wish for love while young
And love they get
But they grasped too soon at a false star
Get crowded in by galaxies
Now beyond their reach
Longing to travel the distance
But unable to go that far
Trapped by what they wished for
And surrounded on all sides by it
Some wish for wealth during hardship
And wealth they get
The cost becomes too great however
Simple money cannot replace
The things they lost getting it
The trust of those around them
Hollow friendships of the sale
Must maintain the image
Too keep what you have gained
Some wish for fame during anonynimity
And fame they get
The people and places they knew
Now no longer good enough
So soon is forgotten the ones
Who were there for them in times of need
Asking for nothing in return
These are the ones left behind
The ones who are needed the most
Be careful what you wish for
Or so the saying goes
The words you must choose
With caution and care
The things you think you desire now
May not be what you wanted after all
No, not at all…
