Phoenix
Fantasize
Midnight breeezes cooling
Softly lying you speak
and see no one before you
merely a shadow of what
used to be
Fleeting figures flashing
by
to disappear
Like rain in the surf
That rolls on like distant
thunder
I see your lips move
I know you speak but I do
not hear
for the sound of clouds
rushing by
and the cat padding
in the room next door
All stars reach their
zenith
then spark and die,
descending
into a private hell and
face rebirth
The Phoenix flies and dies
And in the inferno it has
become
it is brought forth again
from it's own fiery ashes
To be free again
To live again
To rise and be again
To fly and die
Again
Such an immortal thing
To spring from you own
funeral pyre
Do I feel envy or pity
For such an unending cycle
To be destroyed and then
remade
Times again Rhymes again
I know this bitter circle
For even as we slay it we
raise it
Moon overhead illuminates
the touch of your eyes
No more words we know them
all
The music fades the beat
goes on
Pulling us apart Pushing
us together
We make it die it haunts
us
And then it comes back t
life
Built on the foundations
of it's grave
Oh, to be a Phoenix
