And He Had to Fix It

Fantasize

His eyes caught her picture

Then fell quickly to the floor

In his mind their ringing words

The slamming of the door

How long he sat there thinking

Just cannot be said

His thoughts were lost in memories

Vision dimmed with red

There he sits in silent dreaming

Eyes a mist in wordless screaming

Gazing out at days long gone

How could it all have gone so wrong

In his heart he knew his answer

Break the darkness with candles lit

Break the walls, the wrongs between them

He knew - and he had to fix it

He walked through the forest                Sands of time, waters that flow

His eyes were like stone                        Parable rhyme, flash of show

In a clearing he took a rest                    Early in dawn, late in space

And there his purpose shone                 Greet the lawn, tear his face

With hands that shook he dialed

With heart that hoped he waited

No answer on the other side

His hunger left unsated

The streete were blurred with tears

Hoping maybe to see her there

Not one word was he given

His love - lost - not anywhere

There he sits in silent screaming

Eyes glazed over, hopeless dreaming

Emptiness of long gone days

With nothing to dispel the haze

In his heart he saw her answer

Keep the cuts that made the split

Carry on their separate pathways

He knew - and he could not fix it.
