What's new with us.....
11/14/2000 We
received some laminated wood flooring from Steve's Dad. We decided to do the
main floor (kitchen, living room, dining room) in it. We also decided that the
awful wallpaper from the previous owner had to go, and that real oak trim would
be much nicer. So Steve killed himself removing the wallpaper, it didn't want to
come off. Then he removed all the old carpet (yuck!!) and the linoleum in the
kitchen. Then we filled all the holes (old and new!). I have to mention that
whoever drywalled and painted this house was a TOTAL HACK!!! Then it was time to
prime the walls. Next of course was figuring out what color to paint the walls.
Tired of white (UGH, too reminiscent of hospitals), I decided to go extreme. I
finally decided to marbleize the walls. Using these colors......butterscotch,
tudor cream, and tower white. Ceiling, is tower white. Kitchen is tudor cream.
Living room and dining room are a marbleized version of all three. Subtle
marbling. See pics below. Steve started doing the floor and we discovered we are
going to be short. Need about another 100 sq. ft. Of course it is a special
order color and we will have to wait 2 weeks for it to come in. In the mean time
we will argue about the color of the trim!

11/28/00 Well, we got the rest of the flooring yesterday. Trim will be the tower white...in a wash. The front door, the back door, and the bay window will be the tudor cream. I can't wait til everything is back to normal. Should be by this weekend!
12/06/00 We have 99% of the rooms done. Flooring is in, and trim up. We are just waiting for my sorry ass to do the touch up painting and a wash on a door. Now that it is done, I vacillate between loving it and hating it (the paint, not the floor). However, even when I hate it, I like it much better than the yucky paint that was there before. And the rooms are much "warmer, friendlier" than they were before so that is a good thing!
12/13/00 Here
are some pictures of the snow from our blizzard....
