Well Well Well.... you'd expect a lot of water from three wells!
You know that moment, when you say to yourself, "At least it can't get any worse" and you have a feeling in the pit of your stomach that you just made the understatement of the year? Yeah that happened!
I got in a car accident. MMHmm. Yep. Probably the 2nd worst week of my life, everything's gone wrong, I'm freaking out, but as I'm driving home I'm thinking, ah at least this week is almost over, and .. dum dum dum: "it can't get any worse".That's about when it happened. When the 3 cars in front of me slammed into the original car that for some unknown reason was stopped in the middle of the I-5 freeway, and then I of course SLAMMED into them, making me the 5th and thank God last car in this insane accident. Air bag exploded, my entire car totalled, everything all smoky and insane... My glasses fly off my face, and of course I'm blind as all freakin get out, so I can't see to find them... so after just getting into the horrid accident, I'm searching in my purse for my contacts, and putting them in so I can even see what the hell's going on. Let the record state, I'm OK, everyone was pretty much OK, and most importantly I WAS NOT AT FAULT! I'm very stiff and sore, and have a nice little burn on my hand and wrist from the air bag, but in general it's alright. Yes I cried... I was hysterical... I just kept saying " I'm from Nebraska, I'm from Nebraska" like I deserved special treatment or something... oh they thought I was 'special' that's for sure! I met some nice folk though. Big shout out to Pete the EMT for insuring me that it was all good, and giving me permission to use my own phone. Yeah I was so confused I kept asking people if I could call someone... like I was under arrest or something. And the tow truck guy, he rocked. He was the one that advised me NOT to call my parents in the middle of the night, which was a very smart idea! Also John in car # 3 of the pileup.. he was a nice dude.
But most importantly I have to say HUGE thanks to those who got me through it all: (here's my emmy speech!) To Beth and Megan for allowing me to call them at 1:30 am Nebraska time to tell them the drama. To Aaron - the first person I called because " you're A - A- ron..the first person in my phone book!" Aaron does deserve some sort of a reward for helping me with all my drama this week. He'll get to help me buy a new car though, so that will be his reward! And of course Sara, Liz, Kevin and Phillip for coming over and letting me freak out! They dropped everything (literally, Sara was playing cards and just dropped them on the table and left) and came to my rescue with all the essentials -- chocolate and liquor! ! |
