Night hike headquarters were set in a cub scout lodge in the countryside near Amersham. The fellow in the foreground looking stressed is Phil, the mentally unbalanced individual who runs the whole operation. | ![]() |
![]() | Matt and Ned, the ultimate midnight cooks. This was taken before the evening really got going, thus the smiles. |
As people arrived we made up tacos and served crisps (british for tortilla chips) with guacamole. All would have been fine had the flow of incoming groups been relatively steady and the tacos not taken so long to grill. | ![]() |
![]() | Eventually we ran into a lot of trouble when herds of people were waiting outside our tent demanding food! We felt like a wilderness fast food shop and just could not keep up with the demand. Oh, and that glowing thing isn't a ghost, it's some screwball with a road worker's refective jacket. On second thought, wearing something like that seems quite sensible now that I think about it. |
After feeding the masses we got picked up by Phil and Rich, and then ran off with them to deal with all sorts of stupid situations. This is Phil with his map and team info trying to determine which group went where while simultaneously checking details on his hands free mobile phone with the next checkpoint... can anyone say multitasking???
