So many places to see, so little time. Seeing as Lyon was only two hours by train from Geneva and not a place I needed to explore on my own (Sabine and Ben both live in Lyon) this little journey rates more as as excursion rather than an adventure. So, that means no adventure log entry for this trip (I'm saving up my energy for the weeks ahead which I suspect will rate quite high on the RTML scale at the base of my main page, I am sure that trekking through viper infested jungle is going to score at least a 60). Well enough rambling, these are the roman ruins in the middle of Lyon. The theatre seen here is actually still used today for modern concerts. |

Makes me think of the Haunted Mansion. |
Ben and I were annoyed by the fact that the doors to the spire of this church were closed when the sign said they should be open. We gave the door a half force shoulder slam and the door swung open. Sabine loudly protested that what we were doing was wrong, but Ben and I went wandering in any way (Sabine soon followed). |
The stairs of the spire were all very dark and wet. I have no idea if this is going to be visible on many other screens. Anyhow, we climbed to the top of these dark stairs and then got to a second spiral staircase. Sabine got really nervous bout the fact that we were essentially breaking into the church and convinced us that it was in our best interest to leave before the Roman Catholic Police came to drag us away. |
Cool suspension bridge over the Rhone river. |
The problem with the French is that they do not respect their own cities. This fountain was lovely, but the water was filled with rubbish and grime. It really detracted from what was otherwise a very nice city centre. |
On Sunday we were all so tired after visiting the art gallery that we decided to play a board game. Unfortunately the only one Sabine had was Monopoly in German, this wouldn't have been too much trouble if it weren't for the need to read community chest and chance cards. Ben slaughtered us both (thus the evil grin). |
