This is the Emperor's Palace in central vienna (note the cool looking lion at the base).

Schonbrun palace... the emeperor's summer home. Much nicer than the estate in town, but honestly, once you've seen the interior of one austrian rococco (sp?) palace, you've seen them all. The same patterns and styles were repeated everywhere (megalomania gone artistic I suppose).

So this is the central Cathedral of Vienna. I have never been in such an economically minded church. They had a souvenir shop, listening posts that you could pay to hear history on, and even a holy water flask booth - does this strike anyone else as somehow wrong? And no I didn't buy any!

Ok so this is outside Schonbrun Palace, really phenomenal gardens. The mexican couple that took this were really pleasant until they discovered that I was an american, at which point they became really icy, even hostile.

The opera was closed when I got there, but the building and surrounding fountains were simply amazing.

This was taken when I was hopelessly lost in the maze (I wrote on this in my adventure log) and climbed a tree to try to find my way out. A totally stupid situation, but amusing in retrospect. Based upon the scratches on the tree I was not the first to attempt this!

The art gallery as a building was amazing in its own right. Ah and here I am! I gotta be honest I am getting a bit tired of tromping around art galleries in my walking kit, I shouldn't have left my sneakers in London.

This is the tower I climbed some zillion stairs to get to the top of. Got charged to do this too. Really annoying, I didn't even have to pay to climb the Eiffel Tower!

This was the music garden that I went strolling through later in the evening. I got offered all sorts of interesting drugs (in english) in this place (Vienna you've got some really serious drug trafficing issues that need working out). Anyhow, this is the statue of Strauss.
