Hey everyone, I'm Mike Rani, also known as "Medium Mike". I kind of gave myself that nickname, as I named our drummer, Mike Morgan, "Big Mike". With that story out of the way, I suppose I'll give you a bit of history into the band.
I was one of the two original members of Pale Blue Sky, the other being former lead singer/rhythm guitarist Spencer Owen. He helped me a great deal, as I had never played guitar before he started helping me. So as you can imagine, I wasn't very good. We then went looking for drummers, bass players, or anyone else we could find. We eventually forced Dirt(Jeff) to play bass and the original plan was for Matt Luckey to play drums. Unfortunately for him, he's too lazy and never really got around to buying a drum set. So...I talked to my awesome little sister, Jill, who brought up the idea of her boyfriend/drummer Mike Morgan. He's damn good and well, we didn't have any other candidates, so he got the job. He's my hero and is one of the strong points of the band. We then enlisted Matt Vespa and our new singer/songwriter/tamboriner/harmonica player Poon.
These days, I do a lot of the writing. I bring in general ideas in hopes that through the other guys, we can actually make songs out of my madness. They do a great job of deciphering my crap from the good stuff and making the music into full fledged songs. I go to school and basically wait around for the days when the band is back in full force once again. This is what I love to do, its all that I want to do, and, for the most part, I think we're good enough to make sure this is all we ever HAVE to do. If you think that's a dumb statement, well, piss off!
