Alex Gomez, Paldani Chapter Chief
Alex Gomez entered the Order of the Arrow at the Winter Ordeal in 2000, and sealed his ties one year later in the Brotherhood. After the merging of South Floridas districts and the elimination of the Allohak Chapter, Alex joined Paldani Chapter and was quickly recognized as a leader and elected to the position of Chapter Vice-Chief. When the then-current Chapter Chief failed to continue his responsibilities, Alex took over for the remaining six months of the 2001 year. The next year, he was elected to serve as Paldanis Chapter Chief and has held this position ever since, leading Paldani to Honor Chapter status in both 2001 and 2002. After having the privilege of attending the 2002 National Order of the Arrow Conference, Alex immediately joined the Lodge Executive Committee as Chairman for the Haunted Forest Committee. While serving in this capacity, Alex was responsible for both of O-Shot-Caws main annual fundraisers: the Haunted Forest and the Scout Expo food booth. Under his leadership, he helped our lodge to donate more than $35,000 to the Joseph Aaron Abbott Campership Fund in the past two years. In the fall of 2002, Alex also joined the O-Shot-Caw Ceremonies Team, and has acted as Meteu in the Pre-Ordeal Ceremony and Nutiket in the Brotherhood Ceremony; he has since been able to compete at two Section 4-S Conferences and plans to compete at the 2004 NOAC in the Vigil Ceremony as well. Alex is an Eagle Scout, recipient of the First Year Arrowman Award and Meritorious Service Award, and a Vigil Honor member. His Vigil name is Nipawin Achewon, which translates to Standing Strong. Alex is currently a junior at Charles W. Flanagan High School with a 4.75 weighted GPA and is proud to have served these past years as the Paldani Chapter Chief.

Alex is responsible for the continuing success of the Paldani Chapter and O-Shot-Caw Lodge, as a voting member of the L.E.C. He presides over all Paldani Chapter meetings, and is ultimately in charge of selecting the committee chairmen on the Paldani C.E.C. Alex organizes all Paldani events, such as the Winter Call-Out Ceremony, the Seminole District Camporee Scouts Own, the Car Wash, and the Scoutmasters Dinner, and is responsible for seeing that Paldani is a driving force at all O-Shot-Caw events as well. Alex, as Chapter Chief, is the author of all Chapter meeting agendas, the Best-All-Around-Chapter Book and the Paldani Year in Review Powerpoint presentation. At all lodge functions, including the Council of Chapter Chiefs, Alex represents Paldani and exemplifies all principles of our Order.
