By "Not" Keith Well, for a while I've been saying I should review the NAWF... and since I have a tape of their very recent "King of the Ring" PPV... why not now? -We are live and direct from Bufflo. Chris Morris and Andy Wheeler are at the announce table.

Otherwise, nothing to see here... -Dennis Fontaine vs Alex Marsley I'll be brief. Fuck all happens until Marsley hits a pescado, then fuck all happens again until Whiskey Jakk runs in to chairshot Fonatine. Marsley wins. -* That was 11 minutes I'll never get back. Semifinal Matches -Matt Wilson vs Sevynn Test-of-strength to start, press-slam gets 1 for Wilson. Criss-cross, Wilson eats a back elbow. Drop-kick and bulldog get 2. Three rolling suplexes get 2. Choke, punch, armdrag, suplex. Well, that's the first 10 minutes out of the way. They start to up the tempo with some pinning combinations. DDT gets 2 for Reaper, The Death Spike is blocked, reverse jawbreaker gets 2 for King. They up the ante, pulling out some nifty suplexes, including a sweet Night Driver and a Tiger suplex. King finishes with a backdrop suplex off the top and the Chaos Effect for the win. *2/3 Bad start, hot finish.
-Triple Treat Tag Team Elimination Match This is an easy one for me. 3-D, 3-D, Double Penetration, Death Ministry are gone. Howard backstabs his partner and throws him to the wolves, Double Penetration, Genocide wins in 3 and a half minutes. DUD Do I really need to comment on this one? Didn't think so...

They rise at 9 to brawl, electric chair drop from King, KICK WHAM CHAOS EFFECT for the pin. *1/2 The offically announced time was 42 minutes... indicating a hell of a lot of clips. Still, at least on a par with every King of The Ring final I've ever seen... not that this could be considered a good thing... -Postmatch, Chris King is crowned. His quote of "I am one tired Mother F***er" proabably won't be recorded in too many sports almanacs... -We get some slow-mo replays of Marty Howe destroying a elbow during a house show. Lovely...
Main Event Some Minnepolis/Tokyo Violence to start, as they exchange chops. Kiempo gets a fast 2-count off a Lionsault and tosses Chronic out. Picture-perfect Asai moonsault from Kiempo-san. He hits the boot back in the ring, however. Chronic hits a snap suplex and Spinning fishermans neckbreaker for 2. The Million Dollar Elbow is back by less-than-popular demand, powerbomb gets 2. Hammerlock slam and fishermans suplex for 2 each. They brawl on the outside, Slash and Chris King walk down to ringside as the match slips gracefully into a coma. Chronic hits a few more moves for 2 before getting crotched. The fans chant "Holy Shit" for a garden-variety hurrincanrana off the top. That's just sad, even for Buffalo. Michinoku Driver and the Bad Sushi (Second runner-up in the "Best Named Move" award) and Kiempo-san retains. 1/2* Neeh.. Postmatch, King smashes Chronic with the sceptre for no readily-descernable reason and we're out. The Bottom Line: Distinct lack of effort all round. The potential is there, but everyone sleptwalked through their matches. Nothing I really hated with a vengance... but just a little run-of-the mill for PPV. Mild recommendation to avoid |
