How do I share files in DC++?
To share files, go to the upper left corner of the DC++ window and click file, then in the menu click settings. This will open a new window. On the left side of the window, click on sharing. Then go to the right side and click add folder. Browse through your computer's folders and figure out which ones you want to share. Or, if you're new to the hub, after you click on add folder then click make new folder and call it something obvious like "Downloads". Press ok and it will exit out of the window. If you already have files in the folder you've selected, they'll take a minute or two to index and it won't immediately show up as being shared. Also, make sure not to share your Windows directory or installed programs, since this is useless to other users and can be a security risk to you.

Why can't I download or search for stuff?
Go to the upper left corner of the DC++ window and click file, then in the menu click settings. This will open a new window. On the left side of the window, click on connection settings. Make sure that TCP and UDP ports are set to 23 (if you're on a Mac, use 5190). Then go here and see what your IP is. Now, enter this number where it says IP in the connection settings.

Does anyone have this video/software/music/file I'm looking for?
Try searching for it first. Click on the magnifying glass furthest to the left at the top of the screen. Then type in the search field what you want and press enter. If no one has it, try searching for it at another time. The most people tend to be online on weeknights between about 7 and 11pm, so this is your best chance to find it.

DC++ takes up lots of resources and makes my computer slow, how can I stop it from doing this?
Press ctrl-alt-del to open Task Manager. Click on the processes tab at the top and find DCPlusPlus.exe in the list. Right click it and go down to set priority. Set it to below normal. Note that setting it to low will not make your computer any faster and can make DC++ unstable.

I want to download something. Why does it say "no slots available"?
In DC++ Settings, under Sharing, users can set the number of people that can download things from them at any given time. Hub users, especially those sharing 200GB or more, tend to have a lot of people trying to download from them at the same time. This ties up bandwidth and can slow things down for everyone. So, many users choose to limit their upload slots to try and prevent this. Basically, "no slots available" means you'll have to wait a while to download. Usually this will be less than ten minutes, but if you can't wait, try using the search function to see who else might have the file you want.

Why doesn't the movie or video I downloaded work right, or has sound but no picture?
You need something called XP Codec Pack. You can get it here. A bunch of people on the hub are sharing it too, just search for it. Download and install this and your video will work fine.

I have a .iso, .cue, .bin, or .mdf file. What do I do with it?
If you know that the file is for a video, then you'll probably want to burn it to a DVD. You can also rip it so that you can watch the video on your computer. For tips on ripping and DVD burning, I'd suggest going here and carefully reading the instructions. If you know that the file is for a game or software title, you can burn it to a DVD or in most cases, a CD-rom. However, I would recommend installing Daemon Tools instead. Once you install it you'll see a red icon in the lower right corner of your screen. Right click it, go up to virtual cd/dvd-rom, select the drive, and click mount image. Then find the folder wherever you downloaded the image and select it. Your software will install now.

How does this Automatic Resnet Login thing work?
Originally, I released a "hack" that would let you login to Resnet without having to install Symantec, Windows Firewall, and other bullshit. However, Resnet would still kick you off at about 5AM every morning. A clever fellow who we will refer to as "Mg" designed a program based around my hack that automatically logs you into Resnet each morning. If this sounds like something you want, search the hub for "Automatic Resnet Login Package" and make sure to get version 3.0. You'll get a folder with two files, the installer and the video that explains how to use it. When you run the installer, it will put the files you'll need to use on the computer's desktop. After you've done this, just watch the video and you can see exactly what you need to do.
