ANNUAL MEETING
MAY 15, 2008 – MAPLE GROVE LIBRARY

Attendees:  Cindy Ahrens, Roger Burg, Rose Burke, Eileen Cavanagh, Pat 
Chisenhall, Bill Erickson, Evelyn Gross, Linda Jennings, Chuck Kritzler, Pat 
Kulseth, Lora Landers, Sandy Louis, Phyllis Mattill, Helen McNulty, Donna 
Meade, Fran Parkinson, Robert Rohlf,  Doris Skalstad (MPL guest), David Smith, 
Sharyll Smith,  Barbara Snowfield. 

Call to Order: Roger Burg called the meeting to order at 9:40 a.m. at the Maple 
Grove Library.  Welcome & introductions—everyone introduced themselves.

Secretary Report: Minutes of the Feb. 21, 2008 meeting had been distributed 
(electronically and paper copies).  MSP to accept minutes.

Treasurer Report:
Previous balance 2/21/08:	$546.92
Income:	40.35
Expenses:	0
Balance 5/15/08:	$587.27

Prior to the meeting, the Treasurer Reports and bank statements had been 
audited by Robert Rohlf and found everything in order.

Reports:
Archivers:  Sandy Louis reported that the group is currently writing histories for 
each library (Robbinsdale is done and working on others).  The ¾” oral history 
tapes have been converted to DVD, paid by RHR Foundation Archive Fund.  

Displays:  Phyllis Mattill reported that they need “things” for displays, and are 
open to any suggestions/ideas.

Membership:  Deadline for 2008 dues is the end of June; send dues to Pat 
Kulseth at OW address.  Dues are $5.00 a year. Make checks to Officially 
Withdrawn.

Unfinished Business:
Archiving projects:  Volunteers are needed to sort boxes of clippings; will send 
out an announcement asking for volunteers with proposed sorting dates.

HCL News:  extended Sunday hours are possible because of the stadium tax 
income for HCL; working on revised Mission/Vision.

Maple Grove Library:  update of plans for the new Maple Grove Library by Molly 
Schaaf, Maple Grove librarian.

New Business:
Dues:  reminder to pay dues.

Election of Board Members:  Slate of Board Members was presented by the 
Nominating Committee (Roger Burg, Linda Jennings & Cindy Ahrens):

Slate of officers was approved by vote.

Membership after merger of library systems:  discussion of options between 
Roger Burg and Doris Skalstad, differences in the two retiree organizations was 
discussed; decision is delayed and pending further review and discussion.

Program:
The following oral history tapes were viewed: Gretchen Wunderlich, David Smith, 
and Monzetta Cole.

Cindy reported she has been in touch with former library artist Inese Jansons 
(now living in New Bedford, MA.  Anyone interested in checking out Inese can 
visit her web page www.divaplanet.org.

Next meeting is September 18, 2008; will look for a Minneapolis library branch as 
the location.
