HENNEPIN COUNTY LIBRARY OFFICIALLY WITHDRAWN FEBRUARY 21, 2008 – RIDGEDALE LIBRARY The meeting was called to order at 9:35 a.m. by Roger Burg. Attendees: Cindy Ahrens, Roger Burg, Rosemary Burke, Pat Chisenhall, Ann Eccles, Linda Jennings, Chuck Kritzler, Pat Kulseth, Helen McNulty, Fifi Mattill, Fran Parkinson, Robert Rohlf, David Smith, Sharyll Smith. Minutes: Minutes of the 9/20/07 meeting had been distributed (additional copies were available for review also). MSP: Roger Burg/Pat Chisenhall. Treasurer’s Report: Balance Sept. 2007: $ 541.34 Income: $ 5.58 Expenses: 0 Balance Feb. 2008: $ 546.92 Accepted subject to audit prior to annual meeting. Committee Reports Archives/Displays: Roger gave a brief Archives report—working on history of agencies, Roger is working on compiling historical staff listings. Fifi reported that the current display is book bags. HCL has purchased a second display case that matches the OW case – to be used to display library awards. Membership: 2008 dues are now due; payment can be made to HCL Officially Withdrawn ($5/year). Dues can be sent to 7158 W. 113th St., Bloomington MN 55438 or paid at the May meeting. Nominating: Need to establish a Nominating Committee prior to the May annual meeting to recommend a slate for Board of Directors. Volunteers: Cindy Ahrens, Linda Jennings, and Roger Burg. Announcements Next meeting is May 15, 2008; Roger Burg will check on Maple Grove Library as the site. This is the annual meeting (election of Board of Directors & audit of Treasurer). Sept. 18, 2008; will look at meeting at Augsburg Park Library. Adjournment Meeting was adjourned prior to the program. Program: Amy Ryan, Library Director, with a “merger” update. January 1, 2008 was the actual merger date. Have now opened the 3 closed Minneapolis libraries. There are “welcome” banners in all libraries in 3 languages. Continuing with behind the scenes work and consolidation, e.g. consolidated e-mail list & phone directory. Library Board now consists of 11 members by adding 3 new Minneapolis members, plus one more suburban member, and is still an advisory board. The consolidated system now has 41 libraries. Looking at MPL Friends and Library Foundation of HCL and how to work together. Working to expand library open hours with the additional $2 million from ballpark funds. There are 8 active capital projects currently underway.
