
Pakistan Day Picnic - September 9, 2001
The Pakistan Association celebrated Pakistan Day by at a picnic in the scenic Borer Park in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The Association provided halal burgers and drinks. A variety of side dishes and sweets were brought in by the attendees estimated to be over 400.
An important feature of the picnic was the appearance made by Mr. Doug Duncan, the Montgomery County Executive. Besides a number of elected official both Democrat as well as republican attended the event. Notable among these were the County Council President, Mr. Blair Ewing, Maryland Sate Senator, Mr. Chris van Hollan and Mr. Ike Leggett, member County Council.
The Pakistan Association is a non-profit, community supported organization, unaffiliated with any political party or advocacy group. Although the Association does not endorse particular candidates it is our goal to inform the Pakistani American community as to pertinent political issues and to provide a forum for debate and discussion.
