Opening of Khokhrapar-Munabo border opposed

KARACHI - The Scheduled Castes Federation of Pakistan (SCFP) has expressed it's concern over the reports about opening of Khokhrapar-Munabao border between Pakistan and India.
In a statement issued here, the SCFP President Surendar Valasai, Senior Vice President Bherulal Balani ex-MPA and Secretary General Arjundas advocate have stated that the scheduled castes, mostly settled on the Sindh-Rajasthan borders in former Mirpurkhas district, are disturbed over the reports that Khokhrapar-Munabao border is being reopened. "We fear that the opening of this border will import in this region fresh and modernised Brahminical Social Order and inhuman caste system from India," they added.
"The Dalit students are segregated in Gujarat schools. The Dalits are not allowed to fetch water from the well and ponds in Rajasthan," they said adding that such caste discrimination had no place in Pakistan, as declared by founder of the nation, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
They said that Tharparker district is already infested with some of the practical forms of caste discrimination continuing since centuries and any fresh impetus to it, will be opposed and protested against by the Pakistani Dalits.
SCFP maintained that Pakistani Dalits are not against any progressive friendship between Pakistan and India for the resolution of issues including Kashmir but they will certainly not like any move that could threaten to add more similarities on mistreatment to Dalits between Pakistan and India.
