Panthers are habitat generalists they can recide in many types of enviroments such as: forests, prairies, and swamps. There two distinct characteristics are that one they are very territorial and are also solitary animals. They are most active between dusk and dawn. Panthers are usually quiet but they do communicate through vocalizations.

Historically they have ranged from the southeastern part of the United States from Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Tennesse. The only actual breeding ground for panthers would be the southern tip of florida because of the constant temperature homeostasis.

Habitat loss and fragmentation due to human development, vehicle collissions, mercury poisining, and parasites and disease. Others are also related to territorial disputes between the panthers themselves, and inbreeding resulting in a isolated population.

As protection a federal agency has added them to the endangered species list throughout the United States. They also have the endangered species act which requires the United States Federal government to identify species with a threat of extinction and provide information regarding the habitat and diet of said animal which leads to creating an endangered species preserve to preserve the said species.

They mostly eat white tailed deer. However, there diet is not limited to that it also contains a wide variety of wild animals such as: rabbits, racoons, armadillos, and birds.
