Lateral Epicondylitis ( Tennis Elbow )

What is Lateral Epicondylitis ( Tennis Elbow )?

Lateral Epicondylitis ( Regular Type Tennis Elbow ) is nothing more than dislocated and / or pinched nerve(s) in the upper part of the elbow. One or more nerves change course from its regular bedding area and get lodged in an area where the upper arm and the lower arm as they bend together, get dislocated and / or pinched and cause great pain such as sharp as a stabbing form.

Lateral Epicondylitis ( Tennis Elbow ) is also referred to as wrist extensor tendonitis. ( Great Word for NOTHING!!! )

How does it occur?

Tennis Elbow results from overforcing, overlifting & overusing the forearm and upper arm while twisting the arm. The nerves in the elbow are forced to change direction and make an other bed somewhere else to sit in.

What are the symptoms?

The symptoms are:

 pain or tenderness on the outer side of the elbow;

 pain when you straighten or raise your wrist and hand;

 pain made worse by lifting a somewhat heavy object;

 pain when you make a fist, grip an object, shake hands, or turn door handles and / or keys left or right;

 pain that shoots from the elbow down into the forearm or up the upper arm;

 pain when pressing on top of the outer bone almost near the crease of the folding elbow.

How should it be diagnosed?

Your Health Care provider, your doctor, nurse, Chiro, Osteopath, Massage Therapist, etc. should ask you exactly where it hurts and pine point the area on the outer elbow and ask you to fold your lower arm up and back down. He / she may order an X-RAY to make sure that it is not damaged.

How should it be treated?

1. The Top Elbow Nerve(s) should be reset so that the nerve(s) can regain back its location / bed;

2. A Natural treatment ( Egg Plaster ) should also be applied to relieve the swelling in that region. ( see my index for the recipe );

3. A second person is needed to do the technique shown as follow.

A. The Egg Plaster must be applied to reduce the swelling of the area the night before and apply some heat to it;

B. The following technique should be followed to the letter:

 This second person, of some strength, should be use to do this special technique;

 Whichever elbow it is, use the appropriate hand to hold the injured person's in a firm hand shake grip;

 The other hand is used to put the thumb on top of the elbow bone and slide it firmly inward while still holding a firm grip down;

 Firmly grip the person's hand , put sharply, twist it outward and fold the lower half of the arm fully toward his / her shoulder;

 Release both grip and inform the person to just relax but not to make any outward movement with the arm and / or the hand. It means that he / she can not turn a knob, a key or any other devices with his / her hand outward;

 Apply an other Egg Plaster the following night and some heat;

 Now, for the total healing, see the info below on the prevention.

4. Heat of some source should be applied during the Natural Treatment to keep the injured nerve(s) extended.

Caution: There should not be any Cortizone Injection applied to the elbow at any time.

Lateral Epicondylitis ( Reverse Type Tennis Elbow ) is nothing more than dislocated and / or pinched nerve(s) in the under part of the elbow bone.

Keep the person's arm straight. You need to do the reverse for the resetting of the elbow nerve(s). You slide your thumb from the pointy part of the under elbow all the way to the crease inside the elbow and with the other hand, pull and twist his / her arm toward the inside and fold it all the way up to his / her shoulder.

When can I return to my sports, work, activities, etc.

If you return to your daily sports, work, activities, etc. right away, you could re-injure your elbow and cause further injuries which may take even longer to heal and / or injure it permanently. You Health Care Provider should inform you to: " not to twist your hand / arm outward as it will make the nerve fall back into its previous location / bed such as tunning door knobs, keys in the door or car ignition, lifting something heavy, sudden movements are forbidden with the arm, refrain heavy use of the arm for about 3 to 4 days ".

How can I prevent the tennis elbow from happening again?

 Extend your arm fully with the palm facing inward;

 Use your fingers and hand;

 Rotate them inward, making a circle infront of you;

 Do as many as you can 6 times daily;

 Acquire a weight of about 2 to 3 lbs for women and 4 to 5 lbs for men;

 Rest your upper arm against your body;

 Keep your inner hand toward yourself and with the weight in it;

 Bend the lower arm straight up toward the shoulder very slowly;

 Do as many as you can twice daily;

 If some pain arouse from the exercise, use the Egg Plaster that evening.

WHAT YOU SHOULD NEVER DO!!!!

Do not use any of those Arm Bands / Braces as they will make your dislocated nerves permanent and you will be stuck to wear these bands and / or braces for the rest of your LIFE.
