Perfect mistake
My dreams foretold of great love, they
did.
But if it came it was most well hid.
All I got was the scent of alcohol,
Cigarettes on your breath.
At the time it seemd worth it, although
For my will it meant death.

You promised me respect as you undressed me with your eyes
Promised me the truth and then enfolded me in your lies
You always knew exactly what to say
Precisely how to touch
And I guess when it came to the crunch
You didn't hurt me...much.

You made promises with your hands on
my heart
Took all of me there was to take
From the start you seemed...imperfect
But not you
You were the perfect mistake.

The prophecy was of happiness
The reality? A total mess
I hoped to gain your heart by impulse, but
I didn't..."deserve it"
Perhaps impulses should be ignored
But where's the fun in that?
