Paideusis beyond the waves
The waves of change are part of our life space, and they affect us, whether we want to accept it or not: the scientific proofs about their unpredictability do not make us feel better. The first volume of our journal was dedicated to change. Actually, change has affected it considerably during these years. Striving to keep its independency, its balanced approach, its interdisciplinary and cross-cultural character, the journal has left its initial institutional umbrella, it represents now only its enthusiastic editors, advisors and – most importantly – readers.
Waves affect, of course, not only organizations and journals, but also
people. The undersigned has also experienced major changes. They concerned
institutions, and also geographical realms – which involved the crossing
of an ocean, and then, of almost half of a large continent.
Writing from the shores of the Atlantic, I realize to what an extent
my personal changes have affected structures I am part of, like the editorial
board of Paideusis-JICS. I take personal responsibility for all the effects
of these changes, which did not seem to be predictable.
Is Paideusis beyond the waves now? Certainly. But this does not mean that no waves are expected for the future. On the contrary: our journal is born in a climate pervaded by waves of change, and more changes are supposed to come. It should be able to face changes, and, due to its interdisciplinary character and cross-cultural attitude, it should also change, adapt, and provide a meeting place for “searchers”, and gates for authentic communication.
It is with the help of valued collaborators that we could keep up the work on this journal – and launch now the new series of Paideusis-JICS. The dedicated work and efforts of Dr. Quentin Gausset, fuelled by his belief in the value of an open and explicitly interdisciplinary journal like Paideusis-JICS, represented an inestimable contribution to the development of our journal. I would therefore like to thank him warmly for his perseverance, his friendly support, and his hard work!
My thanks also go to the members of the Editorial Board and of the International
Advisory Board, for their time and their precious assistance!
I would like to acknowledge here the excellent activity of our new
editorial assistant, Alanna MacLellan-Mansell, who has a significant contribution
to this new volume. Last, but not least, I wish to thank my wife, Mirela,
for her constant support and her incredibly determined help!
