This is where I decided to mount my 2m Ham radio, cell phone holder, and CD Player control.  I did not want to damage the dash so I came up with this non-permanent method. I used a piece of 3/8" plywood, automotive vinyl, staples, a wood screw, and some plumbers tape.
I got the vinyl at the local fabric store.  It is a perfect match for the console fabric and was not very expensive.  I covered the plywood with it and fastened with staples.
Here is a side view.  The plumbers tape is attached to the rear of the plywood with a wood screw.  The plumbers tape goes underneath the middle seat and wraps tightly over the top of one of cross members.  It is solid and when I decide to change things around I don't have any permanent holes in the truck.
