| In Heaven, we heard the story of Heaven Leigh Casteel. Heaven's family was one of the poorest families in a town called, Winnerow. Winnerow was also known as The Willies. One night, right before Heaven's thirteenth birthday, Heaven's grandmother, Annie Brandywine Casteel, woke her up in the middle of the night and told her the truth of her identity. Heaven was nothing like her brothers and sisters, Tom, Fanny, Keith, and Jane. Niether was she like her father and stepmother, Luke and Sarah. Annie Brandywine, showed a fancy suitcase, with fancy clothing, hair accessories, and a priceless porcelian doll. At first Heaven did not understand why her grandmother was showing her these expensive things, but she then finally realized that the stuff was her biologicial mother, Leigh's belongings. Heaven found out that Sarah, whom raised her when she was a baby, was not her mother by blood. Leigh died after giving birth to Heaven. That is when Heaven began to realize why her father "hated" her so much. Heaven took Luke's "Angel" away, by being born. The realization that her biological mother died frightened Heaven, espcially after seeing her mother's gravestone. It read: "Angel" "beloved wife of Thomas Luke Casteel" Soon after Heaven's shocking news, Sarah became pregnant with her and Luke's fifth child. This child was supposed to be Luke's look-alike son, for Tom looked more like his mother. Sarah gave birth to a stillborn child, due to Luke's infedelities with woman from "Shirley's Place". "Shirley's Place" was a whorehouse and Luke found out that he was at fault for the stillborn child. After seeing a doctor, Luke found out that he had syphillis and this was what caused Sarah to give birth to a stillborn child. After the child was born, Annie passed away. After Luke's announcement, Sarah packed her bags and ran away from Luke Casteel and their children for good. This left Tom and Heaven in charge of their brother and sisters, as well as, Toby, their grandfather. Toby was in bad shape after the death of Annie. On Christmas day, Luke finally came back to his home with a surprise for his children. He could not financially raise five children, so he came up with a plan: Sell his children!! The first couple, Lester and Rita Rawlings, wanted one of the younger children. They immediately wanted to take Keith. The deal was almost done, but Jane hystercially reacted to her losing her brother. Lester and Rita decided not to seperate Keith and Jane and bought both of them for 500 dollars apiece. After Keith and Jane were sold, it was Fanny's turn to be sold. She was sold to Reverend Wayland Wise and his wife, Rosalynn. Then Tom was sold to their neighbor, Buck Henry. Heaven was the last to be sold, but she had a choice of two couples: A middle aged couple or the Dennisons, a younger couple. Heaven chose to go with Kitty and Cal Dennison. Kitty was a control freak and very abusive, for now she had Leigh's daughter. Heaven later found that Kitty had an affair with Luke and got pregnant. After finding out that Luke was married to Heaven's mother, Kitty aborted her child. As a result of Kitty's abortion, she was no longer able to have children and hated most men. She even denied sexual relations with Cal. Cal was frustrated with his wife and her awful behavior with Heaven. He began to befriend Heaven and then seduced his teenaged "adoptive" daughter. Heaven succumbed to Cal's desires. This happened until Kitty found out that she had breast cancer. On Kitty's deathbead, Kitty finally forgave Luke and tried to mend the relationship between Luke and Heaven. Heaven received a letter from Luke with a plane ticket to Boston, where her biological mother's mother and stepfather lived. She thought that she would find happiness in her mother's old home.... |
