The Moonrise Group Discussions
The purposes of The Moonrise Group's discussions are to:
- Meet others of like mind.
- Discuss common ideas.
- Explore the deeper philosophies related to pagan worship.
Who we are -- Who we are not
We are not a club or social service organization.
- There is no dogma. This is a discussion group for different individuals with a common spirituality.
- There is no validation. Though we will seek only the minimum recognition from the university necessary to operate, we do not attempt to be student leaders or gain university funds.
- There are no officers. We govern ourselves as mature spirits.
- There are no dues. You are asked to contribute only those resources that you have to spare -- these things being your time, wisdom and positivity.
We are not a class or religious clinic.
- There are no lectures or tests given. We only present to each other that knowledge we have gathered thus far.
- There are no teachers in charge -- the role of moderator rotates and we all learn from each other.
We are not a church or coven.
- There are no ceremonies, rituals or revivals.
- No one is converted, initiated or preached at.
- Previous rank and degree systems carry no weight.
- No pagan faith, system, style or origin is promoted above others.
Every two weeks our group meets to explore the deeper philosophies that impact pagan believers by discussing our knowledge and experiences.
The discussion group acts as the seed for contributors to explore, learn, interact and develop a working community.
Though the discussion group does not promote ritual events or celebrations, contributors may invite others to events that they host privately.
Are you eligible to join us?
- You should be a Clemson University student, faculty or staff member.
- You should have a hunger for mature, intelligent discussion.
- You should believe pagan philosophies. Whether you are a solitary practitioner or part of a worship group, beginner or experienced, you are welcome.
- You should want to contribute and explore, not just sit by and act aloof.
- You should be willing to be evaluated to help us screen out the those who wish to persecute or escape reality.
This group is NOT for:
- Those who are just bored with their current religion and want a taste of something different. You don't have to be very experienced, but you should at least know something about Paganism and believe in it.
- Those who are dissatisfied with the world and want to escape into a "magical," pretend world. We actually believe our philosophies.
- Former pagan leaders who think everyone should hear only their divine words (i.e. hot air).
- Activists who want to use paganism as a banner for their political careers.
- Those who wish to witness or to save souls. This group is PRO-pagan.
Interested?
1. We feel that one should first look inside oneself to decide what one believes, and only then seek others who believe the same. We have no desire to tell anyone what to believe.
Therefore, we have created a list of Frequently Asked Questions to guide the curious down their own path of discovery. This site provides answers and references to give the beginner a good start. We advise interested persons to look here first. If you still feel you belong with us, you should be prepared to tell us why.
2. Send email to: [email protected]. In your email, tell us about yourself and your Pagan beliefs. Take the time to elaborate; a short note will NOT be sufficient -- don't be afraid to give us too much information. The group will review your letter and decide if the environment we have created is appropriate to your beliefs. We are not trying to create a secret club, but we realize that Clemson is not the most open-minded place and we all have to protect each other.
We also have a message board and we welcome you to ask questions of us if you did not find answers here. Just follow the link to
GLYPHS.
(Just ignore all requests for a password.)
We hope that we can come together on common ground and share what we know, while exploring what we do not.
Blessed Be!
