The Constitution of
The Moonrise Group

ARTICLE I. NAME

Section 1.

The name of this organization shall be "The Moonrise Group."

ARTICLE II. PURPOSE

Section 1.

The purposes of this organization shall be:
  1. to provide the student body of Clemson University with resources composed of true and accurate information about pagan religions.
  2. to provide believers of pagan religions a group forum for discussions and pagan religious exploration.
  3. to facilitate the formation of a pagan community in and around Clemson University.

ARTICLE III. MEMBERSHIP AND DUES

Section 1.

Membership in this organization shall be open to all people, excluding those who, by the nature of their actions, have shown that they wish to persecute or disrupt the purposes and processes of the organization. Clemson University students shall be recognized as "full members" and shall have all the rights of full membership. Non-student members shall be recognized as "associate members" and shall have the limited rights afforded them in the By-Laws.

Section 2.

Members who have an active role in the processes of the group shall maintain "active" membership. An active role is defined as attending two or more meetings per semester AND participating in the discussions or decision-making processes that are conducted therein. Members who do not complete this requirement will be placed on "inactive" status and will forfeit their rights as full or associate members.

Section 3.

All members shall be required to pay dues. Dues shall be the donation of time or personal resources as requested by the majority of the group. Time donated to attend and participate in regular meetings shall qualify as payment of dues provided members are or become active as a result. Additional dues may be established by amendment.

ARTICLE IV. OFFICERS

Section 1.

The officers of the Moonrise Group shall consist of a Custodian, elected for a term of one semester, and a Facilitator, chosen for each meeting.

Section 2.

Duties of and services provided by the Custodian:
  1. 1. to present the fullest knowledge available about current business to the group, at the start of each meeting and before the duties of the Facilitator, for the group's consideration and decisions.
  2. to maintain general order and direction of the proceedings of the group while the group is conducting business.
  3. to keep the design and function of the group's website current to the needs of the group.
  4. to maintain the group's contact information in a confidential manner and moderate correspondences to the group.
  5. to maintain all of the group's resources and to notify all members of changes to the group or its resources.
  6. to schedule the meeting dates and times, book appropriate rooms for such meetings and notify all members of such meetings.
  7. to keep the records of the discussion topics current and accurate.
  8. to keep a record of the membership attendance, status and participation.
  9. to maintain any other organizational business that may be important for the continuance of the group.
  10. to promote the group and its purposes to campus.
  11. to act as Facilitator for the first meeting of each semester and under emergency situations.
  12. to appoint the Facilitator of the next meeting at the closing of the first meeting of each semester.
  13. to aid the Facilitator is his/her duties if needed.

Section 3.

Duties of and services provided by the Facilitator:
  1. to promote the established topic of discussions, while in and out of meetings, with the group's members.
  2. to retain the direction of the group's discussions on the established topic.
  3. to functions as a catalyst for the progression of discussions by generating an atmosphere of inquiry.
  4. to offer any pertinent information or research about the established topic and to promote members to do the same.
  5. to solicit the group for the next discussion topic and to appoint the Facilitator for the next meeting.

Section 4.

The Custodian must be an active, full member and shall be elected at the next to the last regular meeting of the semester by a majority vote.

ARTICLE V. ADVISOR

Section 1.

The selection of the advisor shall be determined by majority vote of the active members.

Section 2.

The advisor must be a full-time university employee.

ARTICLE VI. MEETINGS

Section 1.

The Moonrise Group shall meet twice a month, or as deemed necessary by majority vote of the active members.

ARTICLE VII. MAJORITY

Section 1.

A majority vote, used to conduct business in this organization, shall consist of more than half of those active members present at the time business is conducted.

ARTICLE VIII. AMENDMENTS

Section 1.

The group shall evaluate this constitution at the beginning of every semester and propose amendments at that time.

Section 2.

The group shall discuss proposed amendments at the time of their submission, thereafter if necessary, and approve by a majority vote.

ARTICLE IX. RATIFICATION

Section 1.

A majority vote at the first meeting of each semester will be necessary to ratify the current edition of this constitution.

By-Laws of
The Moonrise Group

  1. The Moonrise group shall conduct its affairs as an open Senate, by conducting business, making decisions and casting votes as a unified group, with no full member carrying more power than any other.
  2. General outline of meetings:
    a. call to order
    b. roll call
    c. presentation and discussion of old business, if necessary
    d. presentation and discussion of new business, if necessary
    e. discussion lead by Facilitator, programs, etc.
    f. establishment of next topic and Facilitator
    g. relevant announcements
    h. adjournment
  3. Dues shall be a donation of time or personal resources as listed in the constitution. No other dues are required at this time.
  4. Powers of full members shall be to participate in the voting and decision making process of the group. Powers of associate members shall be limited to discussion of related business but shall not extend to voting privileges. Members who are inactive shall have no privileges until active status has been reinstated. The Custodian shall have all the rights of a full member but those rights shall not include voting privileges.
  5. The group shall act as a community through which members can generate private, spiritually related exercises, but the group itself shall not provide any specific religious ceremony. Members may propose and form committees, activities, or programs, but in doing so, take on the responsibility to see those actions completed. The group shall not be responsible for the completion of such activities.
  6. No member may compel or otherwise influence any member from taking part in any practice that is beyond or against a member's feeling of comfort. No member may hold the group responsible for any action that may take place as a result of the discussions or functions of the group, or the behavior of single individuals.
