Natives Loosing Their Way

Pagan Owl, July 23rd 2003

This was in response to a post on Native American Mission.

This post concerned me because there was talk of the Natives loosing their tongne, traditions etc. and they would never be heard and seen again.

This is what I replied to it.

Now here are my fears.

Myself and others being Pagan have received alot of negative response from some Native Groups concerning our beliefs. If we share soem of your ways and traditions and pass it on not for money but simply for Spirituality how could this be wrong?

There was a Sweat Lodge near Toronto which was on an Aboriginal Land with his permission and ran by a white which was tought by an Aboriginal Teacher. It was closed down this summer after Elders told the owner of the land that he should.

If something is done correctly, for no financial reasons, and with the proper respect why should it not be there to teach others about how Sacred these Ceremonies are?

Why should he have been closed down when his intent and practices were good?

Will I be told I cannot fallow the Shamanistic Path because I am Metis (1/2 Native 1/2 French) and not pure blood?

Which one of us should judge another Purity when all he was doing is teaching others to fallow in his path?

What happened to the Dream of working towards a Common Goal?

What happened to the Warriors of the Rainbow?

Sorry folks letting out a little Steam. Talking about Steam I managed to participate in my first sweat lodge and found it amazing and enlighting. I hope that many others can experience the same energies as this Jackitar Felt.

Your ways are not gone for ever but may be if Secrecy Prevail for everything and you do not share your Wisdom, Songs, Stories, Language etc. with all others including Non-Aboriginals.
