When I was young I was told by my Scout Leader about the forest...
"Take Nothing but memories and leave nothing behind but footprints."
In these days is it safe to do so?? The population is so vast now that if everyone left footprints this could do severe damage to the natural habitat of animals of the Forest.
How can we appreciate and respect the earth without knowing her very well. When I walk in the forest I watch where I step and try not to hurt her in any way, shape or form. I do not destroy webs and watch out for nests. I look for animal tracks and try to avoid fallowing the same tracks as other animals because of fear that even my scent could distrupt the natural patterns of animals.
I love walking in the forest and communing with Mother Nature. In doing so I appreciate and respect her. I cannot see any other way of showing the next generation the same respect than by bringing them to these Sacred Places which are getting fewer and fewer now with development around Ottawa.
Just taught I would share this.
