I precut about 50 pages of construction paper into 2" side strips. I use assorted colors, not just holiday colors.
I make sure that I have plenty of glue sticks and lots of colored pencils, markers and crayons.
We all sit down and start writing. We tend to alternate wishes with blessings. Kind of a way to do thank you's to the Lord and Lady while asking for wishes. I try to explain to the kids that this isn't a santa wish list. (My children all understand that Santa is an idea, not a person who flies around and delivers toys)
We then take our peices of paper and color and decorate them. Sometimes, I pull out glitter (did I mention that I like glitter?) and all kinds of other things from lightweight beads to aluminum foil. Then, once they are decorated, we glue them together and hang our chain around the livingroom.
