An Introduction to Magick

Magick is real. It affects reality. There is a culture nowadays to think that Magick is not real. It is.

You may have heard of the religion of Wicca. Wicca is probably the most common religion for modern Witches, however, it does not allow the free exploration of the Arts. I am not going to get into the Wicca vs. other Pagans argument, but just remember, there is a choice!

How does Magick work?

There is one force that creates magick, and the driving forces behind this. Intent is the force, and energy is the driving force. Intent is a type of energy in a way. Herbs, crystals, etc are batteries for this energy. They hold the energies needed to break the force between our physical world and the astral planes. The plane in between, where magick takes place, is the ethereal plane, ruled by the moon.

As I have mentioned before, intent is the most important force. When a cook mixes together herbs, he will not have done a money spell. However, a witch using the same herbs could have just done a very powerful. Another example of pure will is when a witch needs help. They might not have any magickal aids with them, yet, somehow, they are aided.

There are basically 4 ways of doing magick:

    1. Ritual – this is probably the most common type. A magician will cast the spell using a variety of aidments.
    2. Gnosis – this is when a magician goes into a deep relaxation (Gnosis) and goes to the astral planes to direct their will.
    3. Subconscious/Desperation – this is when a magician witch may subconsciously direct their will, or even do the magick when in trouble.
    4. Advanced Witchcraft/Specialisation – When very advanced, a witch may be able to cast a spell whenever they want, usually these are very powerful, instantaneous and at a high level.

A magician is a blanket term applied to all witchcraft practitioners. A witch is one of these. Other than witches, major witchcraft groups include:
