Fort Worth
Hailstorm Of 1995
By:Kaleigh D.
-
The hail was baseball sized
and hit backs, necks, heads and arms propelled at 80 mph.
-
Many adults at Mayfest got separated
from their children but nobody was killed.
-
I remember the hailstorm from
when I was about 4. I was about to dance at Mayfest. It started to hail
baseball sized hail. My dad carried me to the car while my mom ran with
my sister. All the glass was shattered and I got hit in the face
by hail.
-
The hailstorm of 1995 was the
most damaging in the United States. Thousands of people were outside
at the Mayfest celebration, as well as me.
-
Injuries caused by the storm
included broken bones and deep bruises.
-
More than 1.5 billion dollars
of property damage was done.
-
Lots of damage was done to cars.
They were dented, windshields on seats and dashboards, and headlights destroyed.
-
The giant hail left craters
in the ground. One crater was 4 inches wide and 2 inches deep.
