| Herbology - Padfoot GINDRETREE This rare plant is found only in some remote places of the world. Hogwarts is the only school to have one of these trees. Its long scarlet trunk is toped with deep purple foliage. The Gindretree releases a sickly sweet smell when exposed to laughing. The Gindretree at Hogwarts is only young as it takes about ten thousand years to grow. When cut the Gindretree screams so experiments on its flesh have not yet been conducted. The only known animal to even attempt to eat the Gindretree is the Bowtruckle, which is drawn to the plant by its smell and bight colours. This however causes the Bowtruckle to become lethargic and slowly die. When replanting and examining the Gindretree, it is important to wear protective coats as we are not yet sure of what this wonderful plant is capable of. |

| Care of Magical Creatures - Padfoot Runespoor The Runespoor originated in the small African country of Burkina Faso. A three-headed serpent, the Runespoor commonly reaches a length of six or seven feet. Livid orange with black stripes, the Runespoor is only too easy to spot, so the Ministry of Magic in Burkina Faso has designed certain forests unplottable for the Runespoors sole use. Each of the Runespoors heads serves a different purpose. The left head is the planner. It decides where the Runespoor is to go and what it is to do next. The middle head is the dreamer. The right head is the critic and will evaluate the efforts of the left and middle heads with a continual irritable hissing. The Runespoor rarely reaches a great age, as the heads tend to attack each other. From - Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them by Newt Scamander |
