Stan's father is suffering from alcohol abuse and seeks a bleeding statue of the Virgin Mary to cure his problems, to only find in the end that it was him all along helping himself and not the statue. This episode stirred much controversy in the Catholic community because the Virgin Mary was bleeding from the rectum. They deemed it blasphemous and requested that it be taken off the air and pulled from future DVD releases. As of this year, 2006, Comedy Central have reran the episode. |

Cartman and Kyle have a $10 bet that their respective bands will reach platinum before the other. Cartman assembles a Christian rock band with Butters and Token to not spread the message of Jesus, but to make money. In the end, after selling one million albums, Cartman finds that there is no gold and platinum records in Christian rock, but only gold, frankincense and myrrh. This outrages Cartman who says, "OH FUCK JESUS." This episode turned heads in the Catholic community because the lyrics of the songs Cartman wrote were about physical love for Jesus. Also the above comment made by Cartman, made at the end of the episode, was not well-liked by the Catholics.

The kids of South Park are greeted by a new kid named Gary. After a near-fight at the hands of Stan, Gary invites him over to his house. Gary's "perfect" family tell Stan about the story of Joseph Smith, founder of the Mormon religion, which eventually leads to Stan's family becoming Mormons. Stone and Parker poke fun at the sterotypical Mormon, but in the end Gary sends the message that your religion does not need to hold all facts true if it supports good family vaules. |
