It all started with the Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons that spakred controversy in Denmark. The cartoons illustrated Muhammad in a satirical fashion. South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker took this and created a two-part series "Cartoon Wars Part I" and "Cartoon Wars Part II." In these episodes Stone and Parker attacked censorship, stating that Comedy Central would "puss-out" and not show the image of Muhammad. In "Cartoon Wars Part II" the image of Muhammad is replaced by a message stating that Comedy Central has refused to show the image of Muhammad, thereby "pussing out." Interesting enough, Stone and Parker depicted Muhammad in a season 5 episode, "Super Best Friends," before all this controversy.
