(3a) Tiwaz/ Tir/ Tyr, Teiws, Teiwaz
Tyr (warrior god)- this represents the war god who sacrificed his sword arm to save the other gods and therefore represents sacrifice for a long-term goal. It is the battle rune including heroism and victory in it�s meaning.
Upright- victory in any form of competition; motivation; increase in money or power; stamina and strength; fertility.
Reversed- warning enthusiasm; failure in competition; infidelity; impatience; lack of creative ideas; difficulties in communications.
(3b) Berkana/ Beorc/ Berkano, Bairkan
Birch- due to the birch�s ability to survive fire and regenerate quickly it is concerned with rebirth, new beginning and purification. It also covers fertility.
Upright- fertility; birth, both ideas and children; new growth; children in general; fortunate outcomes; mothers and motherhood.
Reversed- family and/ or domestic problems; anxiety over loved ones; infertility; miscarriage; failure in business.

Horse- one of man�s closest allies in the animal kingdom this stands for co-operation and progress. It has also been referred to as the goddess stone. (The white mare)
Upright- change for the better; journeys by land; continued in the same manner
Reversed- far journeys; unexpected change; hold fast. Unless all other runes in the cast are negative the rune means essentially the same as up right.

Man- This is mankind in its more general sense but it can also apply as the individual relating to personal destiny or status.
Upright- aid or cooperation; good, honest and unbiased advise; you are too caught up in your problem to see the solution; magical potential; problem with women.
Reversed- no aid from anyone; selfishness; lack of self-control.
(3e) Laguz/ Lagu/ Lagus, Logr
Water- this is the rune of emotions and emotional balance. Water is also linked to intuition and psychic matters.
Upright- intuitive knowledge; psychic ability; good memory; success in learning; tide turns in your favor; women.
Reversed- misled by your intuition; betrayal by a woman; failure in learning; temptation to take the easy why out.

Ing (fertility god)- this refers to ing the fertility god so its primary meaning is fertility, though it�s meaning can be used in a more general sense covering fertility of all kinds. (Ideas, creativity, ext)
not reversable- Completion; success conclusions; sense of relief; end of one stage and beginning of a new one in your life; good fortune.
(3g) Dagaz/ daeg/ Dags, Dag
Day (light)- this as daylight suggests brings about clarity, awakening and enlightenment. It suggests a good time for planning and embarking on new projects and that thing's can be taken at face value.
not reversable- Increase and growth; slow but steady growth; attitude.
(3h) Othala/ Ethel/ Othila, Odhal, Othal, Odel, Othel
Possession- seen as the rune of the homestead. It is good for all domestic issues. This can also stand for ancestors and inheritance.
Upright- things money can buy; inheritances; trust funds, or pensions; inherited traits; single mindedness.
Reversed- delay and frustration; patients; no help forthcoming; difficulties in travel.
