Important Neighborhood Watch
Announcement!!!
From the Neighborhood Watch Coordinator, Valerie Vaughn.

"I just received notice from one of our neighbors that live on Lawson Street concerning her 8 year old daughter.  Please, notify everyone in the neighborhood.

On Wednesday, October 26, 2005, this 8 year old girl was riding home on her bike from school at River Valley and turned onto Hickory off of Bernice.  She was passing the clubhouse and she noticed this "guy".  She passed him and she turned around and noticed he was running after her.  She picked up her speed and rode home to Lawson Street.  She jumped off her bike and ran to her back yard to hide behind the fence.  She saw that he stopped at the corner of Lawson and Devlin.  Then he left.  Her details of this person were:

* Older than a teenager but not a man, possibly around 19 years old.
* Dark brown hair
* Brown skin
* Red sweat shrit
* Torn jeans
* Black and White Tennis Shoes

The principal of River Valley was called.  The Meridian Police were notified and visited with the family of the girl.  It only took 15 minutes for a Sergeant to arrive.

Please, watch your surroundings.  Especially those who deliver and pick up school children either in person or by vehicle.  This little girl did a good job by getting away but the Sergeant did say she should have started shouting at the top of her lungs, "Stop running after me!  I am going to call the police!"  And to run to any home available that looks like someone is there.

The Sergenat did say that Boise is having problems with this type of situation, but Meridian has not had any other reports.  He did promise to beef up the patrol cars in our subdivision.

If you have any other questions or concerns you may email or call me at 887-1519."
