| Theft of UPS packages from homes. |
| Recently, homes in the north end of Meridian and NW Boise have experienced thefts of UPS packages from front porches of residences. The UPS Store at 13601 McMillan offers the following advice for neighbors. 1. If expecting a package, leave a note on the porch as to where to leave the package or to take it to a trusted neighbor who is home. The note doesn't have to be on the door; it can be somewhat inconspicuous. 2. If an item is ordered, give the UPS Store address, store zip code and your name on the order. Contact the UPS Store to give them a heads-up that a package is coming so the store doesn't deny the package. 3. When delivering packages to homes it is up to the individual UPS driver as to whether he/she leaves a package or not. 4. If you are a victim of a stolen package, report this to UPS at 1-800-742-5877 to alert UPS and in turn UPS will contact the local UPS store. All neighbors need to be alert, especially this time of year. If anyone witnesses a crime in progress - such as thefts of packages - call 911 immediately. |
