A message from the Packard Estates
Neighborhood Watch Coordinator
Valerie Vaughn
It has been brought to my attention that our subdivision last weekend (July 29th - 30th) there was someone going around and siphoning gasoline out of vehicles that were parked outside.  The streets I know about were Hickory and Bernice and on Justin Way.

I notified the Meridian Police Department and asked for patrol cars to come through our neighborhood during early AM hours.  I can only hope this happens.  I was told they are short on staff but they will do the best they can.

Basically, since the beginning of this year I have not had any reports from the Police Department or our block captains with any problems with crime situations.  I do know about situations concerning toilet paper yards or cars.  There was some vandalism in the section of the new homes being built where glass was being broken and tearing things apart inside the homes before they were locked but that has since been stopped.
If you have any suggestions, solutions, concerns about this situation concerning the gas being stolen you may notify your block captain or call me.

Please get to know your neighbors.  Be friendly and think about organizaing a block party so everyone knows everyone.  Stable neighborhoods result from people caring and sharing.  Organized neighborhoods experience fewer crime problems.  You may visit Meridian City web site at
