"Cub Scouts... START YOUR ENGINES!!!"
We had a field of 32 cars this year, with many interesting car styles and paint schemes. We also had several entries in the "Open" division, where siblings and cars from prior years were allowed to run.
Peter R. from Den 4 opened the festivities by playing the Star Spangled Banner on his saxophone.
The cars were divided into five groups, and we ran three heats for each group. The winning car received 5 points, second place received 4 points, third place received 3 points, and other cars received 2 points. In five of the six groups, one car swept all the three heats to reach the finals. The closest competition was in Group 1 where brother beat brother to reach the finals.
Car 63 swept the finals, winning handily in the first two heats, but by a closer margin in the final heat. So, with 15 points, Cole from Den 4 was this year's winner.
