Activity:

Ø Boys write down list of activities and check off as it is completed.

Trail Mix

Earns: Cooking Achievement #9E (page 76)

Supplies: M&M’s, peanuts, raisins, Chex cereal, paper bags, pen

Activity:

Ø Boys and assistants wash hands before making trail mix!

Ø Put out the bags of goodies for the boys to each take 1/8 cup of each for their bag.

Sun Prints

Earns: Nature Crafts #12A (page 204)

Supplies: dark construction paper, pen

Activity:

Ø Boys select leaves, rocks, pinecones, etc., and place on dark construction paper. (Write names on paper.)

Ø Leave in the sun for a couple of hours.

Ø Then, take off items and see the prints that made by the sun.

Compass

Earns: Maps & Compass BL#2, pin #4 & #8

Supplies: cork, needles, cups, magnet

Activity:

Ø Make simple compass. Explain how it works.

Ø Take real compass when go on hike to take pictures.

Indian Game

Earns: American Indian AP#24B

Supplies: Cornhusks, rubber bands

Activity:

Ø Boys make pokean (page 254).

Ø Play a game of Pokean and keep score.

Photography

Earns: Photography Arrow Point #11A & B (page 200)

Supplies: disposable cameras, pen

Activity:

Ø Each boy writes their name on their camera.

Ø Discuss and practice holding the camera and looking through the viewfinder (refer to #11A for details.)

Ø Outline the different lighting situations to take pictures of on your walk (refer to #11B for details.)

Ø Take den on walk near the camp area within hearing distance of the lunch signal. Direct boys to take appropriate pictures to meet the requirements of the arrow point.
