Committee Meeting Minutes

 

 

CALL TO ORDER

Meeting called to order-7:05.  In Attendance: Joi Honer, Mike Brown, Leanne Granus, Dwight Harding, Janice Lamm, Tom Troup, Steve Boyer, Jeri Amato, Nancy Harper, Gretchen Patti and Colleen Shillady

 

REVIEW OF LAST MEETING”S MINUTES

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT

Mr. Shillady was not present. Treasurer report will be updated next month.

 

FOLLOW-UP

Committee members presented a follow-up to the past month’s activities.  The Joe Corbi Fundraiser was a success. Thank you to all Scouts who participated. The Jan. 23^rd Pack meeting, which had a music theme, was a success. Scouts who attended Klondike Derby had a great weekend. Thank you to all parents and Scouts involved with this activity. Minutes from last meeting were approved.  

 

SCHEDULE REVIEW

A reminder that Scout Sunday will be held at 10:30 on Sunday, February 12, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Pastor Diefenderfer would like the Scouts who will be participating to arrive around 9:45 for rehearsal.

 

The Committee reviewed plans for our Blue & Gold Banquet on March 26^th.  Mrs. Granus said that all planning is going well for the event.

 

Ms. Honer discussed attending Jambo Camp this May 19-21^st in Kutztown. The Scouts will not be going as a Pack-but the Committee is encouraging Scouts to attend with families. The Committee will keep the Pack updated on any changes that come up involving this event.

 

Mr. Boyer discussed the Pine Wood Derby Event which will be held on Feb 26th. Each Den will plan a cheer to use at the Derby. Mr. Shillady will be doing presentation for Friends of Scouting. This is an earlier date than previous years. Derby registration will begin on Sunday at 12:00P.M.  Mrs. Patti will be in charge of the food for this event, but she will be looking for a parent apprentice to help in order to pass the torch for next year. Den 4 will be in charge of the Flag Ceremony for the Derby.  ***Also- Mr. Boyer is looking to find a volunteer to work the scoring system during the Derby***

 

On Saturday February 25^th any parents who can help with track set-up for the Derby should meet up at the South Heidelberg Township Building at 9:00 A.M.  If you have a truck it will help the process go much smoother. Parents will then proceed to CW East for track set-up.  Saturday will also be weigh-ins and practice runs for the Derby at CW East. These will take place until about noon.

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

Mr. Boyer informed the Committee of a website that may be beneficial for the Den Leaders. Scoutxing.com   is a website that includes songs, openings, closings and activities that can be done at den meetings.

 

Committee discussed a possible Spring Field Trip for the Scouts using some of the profits from the Joe Corbi fundraiser. Some ideas that were discussed: Franklin Institute, Gettysburg, Washington D.C., sleeping on a Battleship. Committee has asked any members that have suggestions to research them and bring them to next Committee meeting to be discussed.

 

Committee also thought that a plaque should be purchased for Trinity Lutheran Church to show our appreciation for sponsoring us throughout the years.

 

Ms. Honer suggested that the Pack consider attending the Reading Phillies Swimming Pool Buffet on either Friday, May 26^th  at 6:00 or Wednesday, June 7that 5:30. This will be discussed in further detail at next meeting.

 

Tentative date for Summer Camp swim checks will be June 17^th. Also, the tentative date for the Pack Pool Party will be August 12^th from 6-8 PM. Both of these events will take place at Bethany Children’s Home.

 

Ten Dollar deposit for Day Camp will be due at the Pinewood Derby.

 

Tiger Cub issues were discussed.

 

Five hundred dollars that was due to the Pack from last year’s (2005) Joe Corbi fundraiser was finally retrieved.
