Treasurer's Report: The report for July 2004 was presented by Pack treasurer Heike Beavans. Fund balance as of 7/31/04 is $797.77. One outstanding bill of $250.00 for the day camp bus remains to be paid. Fund raisers last year netted approximately $1,600.00

Chair person Rumpf pointed out that the importance of fund raisers is to get money into the boys accounts. He then reminded the committee that individual fundraisers by Dens must also be offered to all Dens as an option and must be sanctioned by the committee and Council, so funds can be used for Cub activities.

It was decided by consensus that the Pack 459 T-Shirt price should be raised from $6 to $8. It was decided that the present stock of T-shirts go to Cub Master, Shaun Shillady for sale.

Report on Past Events: Day Camp- After some discussion the following points were made for feedback to the appropriate day camp personal.

1. The magician act was inappropriate for Cub Scouts, including some language.

2. The Weeblos orientation trip to the Boy Scout facility could have been more inspiring. 3. Some of the Scouts presenting activities could use more adult supervision to help make the activities more inspiring to young cub scouts.

4. In spite of the above suggestions the general consensus is that the camp was "great" and very worthwhile.

Miniature Golf: It was decided that miniature golf from now on should be an individual Den event rather than a Pack event. Reason being, it takes too long to get a large number of boys through the course and snack lines.

Upcoming Events: The pool party at Bethany is scheduled for Sunday, August 8, 2004, from 6pm to 8pm. Chris Rumpf is to e-mail a reminder to everyone on our list and will give them Julie Borelli's phone number to call for additional information.

Planning for 2005-2005: Chair-person, Rumpf distributed a Hawk Mountain Council Unit.

Planning calendar for September 2004 through August 2005, along with a page explaining abbreviations and Scouting District Codes.

Major upcoming events were discussed i.e.,

Pop corn fund raiser; Joe Corby fund raiser; Re-Chartering and the Pinewood Derby.

Possible Pack day trips were discussed. Chair-person Rumpf pointed out that trips should be planned so the boys could earn achievement awards, and planned avoid conflicts with local sports and trips should be done as a Pack to help defray costs.

The following trips were suggested:

Franklin Institute, possibly for February (Gloria Troup, will coordinate) Middle Creek (Julie Borelli will coordinate)

Conrad Wieser Historical Site and picnic (Cory Schneck will coordinate) Blue Marsh Lake (Chris Rumpf will coordinate) Hopewell Furnace (Gloria Troup will coordinate)

Julie Borelli volunteered to go ask the BCIU if busses would be available for these trips.

Steve Boyer volunteered to form and chair a committee to plan this years Pine Wood Derby. Gretchen Patti volunteered to run the concession stand

Heike Beavans volunteered to chair the Joe Corby fund raiser Gloria Troup volunteered to co-chair the Blue Gold Banquette

Gloria Troup and Steve Boyer volunteered to look into an over-night and scout day at the Institute of Natural Science Museum.

Julie Borelli volunteered to check with the Reading Museum Planetarium about an over-night event for November.

Chris Rumpf reminded the committee that scouting is a "service" organization and our Pack should work toward doing service projects. Chris volunteered to meet with the church Pastor to determine what the Scouts could do for the church in addition to the Strawberry Festival.

1-leike Beavans volunteered to check on the possibility of a Reading Phillies trash pick up day. Wendy Swartz volunteered to get information on a Blue Marsh plant seedlings and clean up day.

The Format Dates and Times of Pack and Den meetings were discussed. It was the consensus of the Committee that the following should occur:

·     Each month there shall be one Pack/Den meeting and one individual Den meeting.

·     Dens may have additional meetings on their own.

·     There shall be a group activity at each Pack/Den meeting. Each Den

shall be assigned to plan the group activity. Dens will be

responsible, on a rotating basis, in the following order: 4,5,1,2 with Den 4 will be responsible for the September 13th meeting.

·      Meetings are to begin at 6:30pm.

"School Night" will be September 23, 2004. Den leaders should attend. Chris Rumpf and Shaun Shillady are to plan and organize this event.

Julie Borelli volunteered to coordinate the Scouting for Food event.

The Blue-Gold Banquette was discussed. It was suggested we do program and awards first and dinner second. The Blue-Gold committee will decide.

Chris Rumpf will up-date and redistribute the calendar.

Next Committee Meeting is scheduled for September 20,2004 at 7:00pm. Meeting adjourned at 9:02pm.
