Bears

The Bear den is the third year in scouting.  The scout should be eight years old or in the third grade to be a bear. Like the ranks before there are requirements that have to be filled before you can earn the bear badge.  If this is the child's first year in scouts they have to earn the Bobcat badge before they can earn their rank.  (Click here for the requirements for Bobcat.)

To earn the rank of Bear, the scout must complete 12 requirements in the following four categories:

1. God

2. Country

3. Family

4. Self

After the rank of bear is earned more activities can be completed and scouts earn arrow points.  The first ten electives earn a gold arrow point, after that each additional ten electives earn silver arrow points.
