CUB SCOUT PACK 172
DAHLGREN, VA
"Scouting..it's a way of life"
Hello and welcome to the Pack 172 webpage. We are located on the Naval base, in Dahlgren, Virginia, is part of the great Mattaponi District of the National Capital Area Council. Our pack is made up of dens of Tigers, Wolves, Bears and Webelos. Adult Leaders guide our scouts in their careers using life experiences and positive mentoring to build their self esteem, moral character and develop friendships that last a life time.

Membership:
Boys that are the sons of active duty military or civilian base employees may join our pack. Dens are as follows:
Tiger Den: Boys that have completed kindergarden.
Wolf Den: Boys going into 2nd grade
Bear Den: Boys going into 3rd grade.
Webelos Den: Boys going  into 4th or 5th grades.

A boy may join the pack at anytime of the year and the pack will provide the appropriate book. The family is required to provide all uniform items. Insignia can be purchaed through the pack and hats are optional.

Activities:
We have year round activities keep the boys interested and motivated. This includes weekly den meetings, monthly pack meetings, hikes and camp fires. Our big activities for year are derby races and the Blue & Gold Banquet.

Community Service:
With Cub Scouts being an organization that promotes assistance and benefiting the community, we particiapte in service projects. These range from Christmas Carols at the Senior Citizen Center to base clean up projects.

Parent Involvement:
As with any Youth activity, parents are the first and most valuable step. We understand that not all of you may become registered leaders, but their are several activities where your help is going to be greatly appreciated. Especially seeing your scouts face when mom or dad are helping them with a project or handing them an award for something that the two of you accomplished.

Fundraising:
To support pack and den activities the boys will participate in various fund raisers from paying 'Den Dues' ($45.00-$60.00 annually) to our bigger fund raiser for the year-National Popcorn Sales through the Trails-End Company.

Please browse the links listed below for further information. Feel free to stop by one of our meetings or contact our Cub Master Rob Ehrhart @ 663-2159 (h) or 653-7590(w),  or our Committee Chairman Doug Hancock @ 540-663-2071.

    Yours In Scouting,
