A
very strenuous 18 mile round trip hike to the top of Rose Peak in the Ohlone
Wilderness. We start in Sunol Regional Park, follow the Alameda Creek and then
climb 3,500+ to the top. This is a beautiful park with dramatic scenery,
wildflowers, hawks, golden eagles, elk and mountain lion sightings, and hostile
attack cattle. An out and back, all day hike, be prepared! We will meet at the
visitors center 9:45. Hike starts promptly at 10. Directions: Take 580 East to
680 South and exit at the 2nd Sunol exit/Hwy 84. Take a left at the bottom of

Enjoy
this leisurely, 8 mile walk through the woods to Heart's Desire Beach in
Tomales Bay State Park. We'll lounge on the beach for an hour and return to
have tea in Inverness. Meet at 11:00 at the Bear Valley Visitor Center on Point
Reyes. Take Sir Francis Drake Blvd. west to Olema. Turn right, go 1/8 mile,
turn left following signs to the Pt. Reyes National Seashore Headquarters.
Again turn left after 1/2 mile and park. We'll meet by the flagpole and carpool

Hike to the northern most tip of the Point Reyes
peninsula where Tomales Bay meets the ocean, and elks roam the bluffs. This
time of the year the entire hill side is blanketed by Irises and lupines, most
amazing. Meet at 11:00 at Pierce Point Ranch parking lot; hike begins at
11:15. The drive from San Francisco takes about 1 1/2 hours and the hike
with lunch takes about 5 + hours. Direction: take Sir Francis Drake
to Olema (20 miles) right on Hwy1 (2 miles) Left on Sir Francis Drake High Way

Hike on some most beautiful, yet less visited trails on Mt.
Tam. All forested trails, along bobbling brooks; Optional: Bring something that
makes music (or other token items)to add to music camp if you so desire. 10
miles and semi-strenuous. Meet 10:30 am at Rock Springs Directions: from Hwy
101 take Stinson Beach Hwy 1 exit, turn left onto Panoramic Hwy, follow
Mt. Tam sign to PanToll Ranger Station, turn right before the Station to Rock

This
is a moderate 8-mile hike with an elevation gain of about 1850 feet. McNee
Ranch is approximately 24 miles south of San Francisco on State Highway One.
From Highway 1 in San Mateo County, drive about 4 miles south of the last
Pacifica traffic signal (Linda Mar). Turn left (away from ocean) into the small
parking lot (or park a little further south in the lot on the right/ocean side
of the road) - this is just a few hundred feet north of (and across the street
from) Montara State Beach. The trailhead is not well signed, and is easier to
find coming northbound. From the peninsula and points south, take Highway 92
west to Half Moon Bay, then Highway One north for 8 miles. Parking for about 6
cars (more in two other lots; one further south a few hundred feet, on the
ocean side, and the other, with lots of parking, about .5 mile north on the
west/ocean side of the road). No entrance or parking fees. Meet at 10:45; hike

Hike along the
beach and up into the hills on this strenuous 10 mile hike. Thie is a
beautiful hike combining the beach with lush forests and open hillls.
Meet at 11:00 at the Limantour Beach parking lot; hike leaves at 11:15.
Take 101 north to Sir Frances Drake, go west to Olema. At Olema, turn
right and go 1/8 mile for a left onto Bear Valley Road. Take Bear Valley
Road until sign for Limantour Beach. Drive takes about 1 1/2 hour from

Experience the wonder of Tennessee
Valley and Muir Beach under the full moon. We will hike 6-7 miles with
some climbing. Meet at the Tennessee Valley parking lot at 7:30PM; hike begins
7:45PM. Take the Stinson Beach/Hwy 1 exit from 101 in Mill Valley. Go one-half
mile and turn left on Tennessee Valley Road and then 2 miles to the parking

Group
meets at Marin City Golden Gate Transit Transfer station at the intersection of
Donahue and Terners at 8:15 am for an 8:30 bus (# 50) to San Rafael and on to
Olema (# 65). We will hike the length of Bolinas Ridge from Tomales Bay
to the tip of East Peak tracking Mt Tam all the way from its rolling
inconspicuous origins off the San Andreas fault to its lofty flanks
dominating the central Marin landscape. This is an all day
climb with many habitats, trails, and spectacular views. It is
also a long day at a fast pace for experienced hikers (approximately 20 miles)
and there will be one long 2500 ft ascent. We will return to our cars
around 7pm on the bus from Mt Home (# 63).
Bring money for the bus fare, two water bottles, lunch, snacks, layered

This is one of the greatest coastal loop hikes anywhere.
witnessing the regerative powers of the land, as the coastal foothills, after
the Mt.Vision wildfire, are now blooming and revegetating. 7.5 miles
moderate level hike. Meet 11 am at Limantour Beach parking area.
Direction: take Sir Francis Drake to Olema (20 miles) right on Hwy1. immediate
left on Bear Valley Rd. about 2 miles turn left, continue for 7.6 miles to

Hike up Mount Tam from Stinson Beach and back down through
open meadows with spectacular views. Meet at 11:00 in front of the
Stinson Beach Fire House; hike leaves at 11:15. Please contact leader if

Meet
at the Palomarin Trailhead at 10:30; hike leaves promptly at 10:45. The Palomarin is the southernmost staging
area on the Point Reyes peninsula. We will hike along the coast to the north,
passing Bass Lake on the way (2.5 miles from the trailhead). After skirting a small damp canyon, Coast
Trail steps out of the woods, and edges toward the ocean and some dramatic
cliffs. On a clear day, we should have a great view west to the Farallones, and
south to Montara Mountain. Coyote brush, buttercup, wildflowers, Indian
paintbrush, California coffeeberry, lupines, and California sagebrush line the
trail. We will hike past Bass lake and
stop for a quick dip - (Note: the water is usually around 58 degrees). Walk
back to Coast Trail and continue on a north loop along Coastal to Wildcat Lake.

Getting
there:
From
Highway 101 in Marin County, exit Stinson Beach. Drive on Shoreline Highway to
the junction with Almonte, about 1 mile. Turn left and drive about 2.5 miles to
the junction with Panoramic. Continue straight on Highway 1 about 13 miles to
an undersigned junction with Olema-Bolinas Road (just past Bolinas Marsh). Turn
left. At the T intersection, turn left (street sign says Olema-Bolinas Road
both ways), drive about 1 mile, then turn left. Drive to the next stop sign,
then turn right onto Mesa Road – regular road for 4 miles, then turns to dirt
road.

The
Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve is located on the western
slope of the Santa Cruz Mountains overlooking Half Moon Bay. This
magnificent preserve, encompassing over 3,000 acres, offers a wide
variety of environments. We will start at the summit of the famed Purisma Creek
Trail, off of Skyline Drive, and descend via the beautiful Soda Gulch and
Whittemore Gulch Trails. The last 4 miles of this 13 mile hike will be an
ascent of approximately 1600' up the Purisma Creek Trail, ending where we
started at the top of the mountain. This hike will provide full coverage
of a park area that is generally considered one of the most
beautiful in San Mateo County. Directions: South on Skyline
Drive from Highway 92. Proceed approximately 6.5 miles to second, smaller
trailhead on right across from Huddart Park. Allow at least 45 minutes to
get to this location from SF. Parking is limited. Meet in the
parking lot at 10:15 am, hike begins at 10:30 a.m. Estimated finish time

Moderate 12 miles, this hike runs right into the heart of
Big Basin, starting among the largest of the redwoods, climaxing at a series of
waterfalls, and returning through old-growth redwood valley. Take either the
101 or 280 freeway south to 85 south. Exit 85 south at Saratoga Road. Turn
right and head west on Saratoga Road. This road goes through Saratoga and then
begins to climb into the mountains. At this point the road automatically
becomes Highway 9. Stay on 9 as it winds through the mountains for 6 miles. You
will then see a sign for Hwy 236/Big Basin. Turn right onto Hwy 236 and
continue on this road for 9 miles until you come to Park Headquarters. Meet in
the parking lot across the street from Park headquarters at 10:30, hike leaves

Group
meets at the Ferry Building in San Francisco at 10:30 for the 10:45 ferry to
Larkspur. We walk through Larkspur to Baltimore Canyon and up onto the
slopes of Mt Tam, around the mountain and across the coastal ridges to
Sausalito catching the ferry back to San Francisco (arriving at 8 pm).
This is an epic trans Marin tramp with many habitats, trails, and glorious
views. It is also a long day at a fast pace for experienced hikers
(approximately 20 miles) and there will be two 1500 ft climbs and

Hike
out to Wildcat Camp on the coast after stopping for a quick swim in the warm
spring fed Bass Lake. This hike
is about 10 miles. Meet at the Palomarin trail head at 11:00; hike leaves

Berkeley/Oakland hills hike. From Bay Bridge follow 580 to Oakland, take the 35th Ave exit, turn left and head east towards hills (becomes Redwood Road). Cross Skyline Blvd and go 2 miles to the MacDonald Staging Area parking lot on the right. In Berkeley, go east on Ashby, take 13 South, Redwood Road exit and follow directions as above.
